The only term I can think of that’s used in such a disparaging way is “teabagger”— which is also something I don’t do— and I’ve certainly spoken up when people who aren’t actually Tea Party types have been labeled as such. As I said, neo-con, back in the day, was something that a lot of the ‘left’ used as their catch-all for conservative, and it was just as stupid.

I do not see the point of being insulting just for the sake of being insulting. I never have.

No, I know you don’t do this, but others regularly do, and I suggest that it’s possible you haven’t noticed it because, well, the folks doing it are closer to your political persuasion than conservatives are and we all tend to be more forgiving of those with whom we agree.

The morning thread is frequently referred to as the morning Wingnut wave, which is an insult to every conservative who posts in the a.m. There are other insults thrown about regularly. And very little objection to the demeaning terms.
