re: #64 freetoken

/that’ll be $75 …

If I had it to give, I’d give you at least $40. All great advice, much I already know. Still in all, thanks for taking the time for that response. It will be read by more folks than just me.

I’d have to see you in person to know what to recommend as for exercises, and while it is often just a sales pitch line by personal trainers, still, your “goal” is important.

Right now I am about 5’9” and 230#. Beer gut. At my age, I need to ease back into the routine. I am thinking of easing back in with simple stuff (walking, bike riding) before I get back into weights is the best plan.

I was just wondering if you knew of any particular exercises a dude like me should start with. I am always looking for the knowledge of others on this topic. Always.

Bottom line: there is no magic.

Never has been, never will be. Sweat and effort are the only keys.

Anyhow, I should have mentioned before that I come from a background of “extremely novice” weight lifting. As I have learned, working the legs are important to building your core. With my hereditary predisposition towards hernias, weighted squats, lunges, and the like are now off the table for me. Do you have any recommendations for exercises that could fill in those gaps?

Again, thank you very much for your lengthy response. It is now “hearted” and much appreciated. I mean that truthfully, and without sarcasm.
