King Kong Jeff Bridges on AMC. What the hell.

In my opinion, the key relationship between the big ape and the blonde damsel in Peter Jackson’s King Kong owes a lot more to Jessica Lange’s “Dwan” than to Fay Wray’s “Ann Darrow” in the original film. So for that reason (and maybe only for that reason), the ’70s version does deserve to be screened on a channel that calls itself “American Movie Classics.”
