re: #50 andres

Something out of left field: How do public universities and colleges select their Presidents and Chancellors? Are the processes to select them typically overpoliticized? How much involvement does the governor or their staff takes in it?

I’m watching the process unfold in the UPR and it’s a complete mess.

In Georgia the Board of Regents elects the Chancellor but they are in turn appointed by the Governor.

University Presidents are selected by search committees that include current faculty, staff and advisors.

It has worked well for us. No overt political messes.
