Indeed, it’s a huge, multi-faceted problem. Living on the street can make you a little cagey in short order. Particularly for women. They also get attacked/raped more often.

I would mention that it would serve communities to have more shelters and help people get on their feet, especially if children are involved. Not that that hasn’t been cut also.

I’ve debated about doing a page about the homeless people I’ve met. I’m one of those who gives them money and food. I just don’t know if there’s an interest.

It’s the sad legacy of the well-intended, but semi-disastrous overreaction that was radical deinstitutionalization.

And I would be interested (I say this now, but I give at least even odds I’d completely miss such a page >.>).
