My concern in the huge mineral find in Afghanistan is that it may just reinforce the kleptocracy that already exists. Look at Nigeria, by all counts it should be one of the richest nations on earth, and yet we see grinding poverty across the board because of a deeply corrupt tribal leadership. I’ll hope for the best but I’m keeping the powder dry as they say.
