re: #67 Conservative Moonbat

I’ll just say that nobody who believes in limited government can support the PA in good faith. Nevermind HCR. The Patriot Act was the biggest power grab by the federal government in the past 100 year, if ever.

That may be your opinion, but I don’t see any liberals complaining about it now that it’s one of their own at the wheel. Even the ACLU is okay with it, now that their friends are at the wheel.

re: #69 Gus 802

Tu quoque? No, I don’t think of it that way. You’re right. I know people would disagree with my general assessment of the Patriot Act. I would add that there are many on the right that were and are also opposed to the Patriot Act.

I wouldn’t say it was the “bastion” of the Democratic party. It was really only the more leftist elements. Democrats voted for the Patriot Act and has since survived, almost intact, Democratic majorities including the current president. A lot of people that voted for Obama thought he was going to crumple it up and toss it in the trash can but he hasn’t.

Sure, MoveOn has absolutely no influence over the Democratic Party. It’s not like they convinced every single Democratic Party Presidential candidate in 2008 to protest Fox News’s hosting of two Democratic Party primary debates. Nor has their founder said that moveon.org “paid for the Democratic Party” and owns it.

They’re a fringe element with absolutely no influence. //
