Your comment that the killing was fun actually started this subthread. I have run across people who go out to kill something because they enjoy the rush of power. There is something atavistic and in my mind vile about that attitude.

I have killed to put food on the table because I like venison, killed gophers because the population was out of control, killed skunks to reduce the chance of rabies, killed a cat because it became an unpredictable danger, killed animals in pain, and even took some pride in my marksmanship, but have never killed just to see something die or to feel a power rush.

Why can’t someone eat what they kill and enjoy hunting at the same time?
