Americans are over-medicated in general. I have facebook ‘friends’ who sit up at night complaining that their Ambien isn’t working (turn off the fucking computer and lights and lie down). I understand that insomnia sucks…the chemical cures aren’t much better.

When you take Ambien you are supposed to get in bed and let it do its work. If you walk around or do stuff it will not work. Sleep specialists recommend turning off the computer at least 1/2 an hour before you go to sleep to give your brain a chance to wind down. Watching TV or a movie, or reading, is a better pre-sleep activity since it’s not interactive.
