I can trade on the London or Toronto exchanges if that’s the issue. I just cant trade options or futures on them. I haven’t ever done it though because I have to pay extra for the data access.

Are you a US resident? There was some reason connected to my residence in the US that prevented me from taking out an investment, but it may have been specific to the issuer of the investment. I think it was a platinum ETN which in this case was a bond with an embedded platinum call option (the option ensured principal protection, providing the issuer didn’t default). Perhaps it was the option feature that ruined it, but I seem to remember reading that the Swiss ETF (not a bond) had similar restrictions. Anyway, maybe the rules have changed, and it might be worth revisiting it.
