re: #647 Irish Rose

I may be repeating previous advice, but please make sure you see an asthma SPECIALIST, not a GP or DO or an Internal Medicine guy. Asthma and allergies MUST be treated by a specialist. I would contact the AAFA (Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America) online and find a specialist in your area. Their website also has some valuable information. Both my sons have asthma. Both were air-evac’d to Phoenix before the age of two. I’ve also had asthma since I was young, and now experience mild symptoms helped by an albuteral inhaler.
This may sound cruel, but you must get rid of your pets. I am sure your son will understand it’s a matter of life and death for you. Literally. If you must take them to an animal shelter, so be it.
But find a good specialist if you haven’t already done so. I assume you’ve had skin scratch tests to narrow down what you are allergic to? GPs and the others are clueless when it comes to severe asthma such as yours.
