re: #732 SanFranciscoZionist
The girl playing Portia is pretty, but nothing much. Same for Jessica. The boys are boring cut-outs. Only really fun moment is when Bassanio kisses Antonio.
Pacino kind of sparked briefly over “What should I say to you? Should I not say, “Hath a dog money? Is it possible A cur can lend three thousand ducats?””, but mostly it’s a very, very bland performance.
Seriously, “Hath not a Jew eyes” should scare the hell out of you. Shylock is absolutely simmering with hate and grief. And Pacino just doesn’t pull it off.
Oh, I thought it worked.
