So he dies so we can play Rambo rather then wait for a safer opportunity ? What do we lose by waiting, maybe the pirate will just give up after a week or more. Sure, the captain will be uncomfortable too, but he’s alive. It’s only been a few days, some hostages were held for months. He see no down side for waiting if it keeps the captain alive.
