That camera is very close to the congressman’s face. The kids were being annoying, not asking serious questions and were probably being fairly agressive trying to imitate ambush journalism. My guess is the camera was just a few inches from the congressman’s face and he felt threatened. Also the kids seem very concerned with their privacy. They won’t identify themselves to the congressman and they even go to the effort to blur out their faces in the video. They might just be stupid kids but they also seem very interested in hiding their identity for some unknown reason.

That being said, the congressman should have either walked past or done the interview but to stay and have a confrontation was probably not the best decision.
