Maher Arar. He has the scars to back his claims of torture. That and the fact that torture is what the Syrians do to everybody in their jails. Who was the idiot who figured the Syrians were our allies in the war on terror? Some idiot at the CIA or the US State Dept, is my guess. Total screw up.

And I seem to remember reading recently that one of the Gitmo detainees, under interrogation, pointed to a picture of Maher Arar, and gave the correct name, without being prompted, as a person he had met at a “training camp” in Pakistan.
