I talked about being accused of it, Walter. As my notably redneckish accent shows, it is possible to be from that cultural background and still have a reasonable proficiency in English. My friends generally approve what I say along this line.

And redneck is a racist term, in my opinion. It automatically conjures up a white, uneducated person who fits some bigoted stereotype. I lived in Texas and half my family is from the south, and I know many people who would fix the “image” and are smarter and more liberal than anyone you would know.

So, yes, I find the term to be a all inclusive bigoted label.
