I’m pretty damn sure she wouldn’t speak out if it weren’t for her son, but on the other hand, having a family member with a particular disability or circumstance has made activists out of stranger people than Palin.

And the world has definitely become a better place for those with Down in a lot of ways. Educationally and in terms of making regular adult things like driving and dating and holding down a job, we’ve learned a lot over the past few generations.

Sure. Look at Christopher Reeves.

I can credit her with saying the right thing. Doesn’t mean I like her any more than I did before.
