I think, ultimately, it is going to take bringing the top CEO salaries down to earth from the stratosphere, and some decent tax rates on the super wealthy. We have shifted so far already in favor of the wealthy that it is going to be very hard to come back. Perhaps that needs to precede universal health care, or perhaps universal health care is a start to coming back. I’m not smart enough to know.

To tie this back into something brought up earlier, we need to start hearing from liberal church leaders - because Christianity has a major influence in this country - about how the worship of money is corrupting everything this country stands for. They need to be going after the prosperity gospel, and attacking the idea that a man’s status is measured by how much money he has.
