Ah, no, I sincerely doubt that Michael Steele is part of the problem. I’ve exhanged two e-mails with him (and not received “form” responses, either) and he said to me he can’t force someone to remove the (R) after their name (in response to my bitching about Specter, Collins and Snowe [btw,iirc Specter and Collins are both up for re-election in 2010] and in the other - where I suggested some things the GOP could do to enhance it’s chances of winning back control of at least one house of Congress, his reponse was to the effect that he’s spending about half his time raising money for the RNC and the other half spotting House seats (like the one that was held by the Dem in an overwhelmingly Republic district in NYS who is gonna take Hillary’s seat in the Senate) and those where certain “R”s should need to face a real primary fight.
I don’t think Mr. Steele is part of the problem at all and that asshole Glen Beck did take Steele’s words out of context - saw the entire video. And from reports I have received from others in the know, Mr. Steele has an incredibly long memory.
