If you learn Jewish history you will find out that the people of Israel are a nation, and the 2,000 year exile from the Land of Israel was considered a diaspora by the People of Israel.

I know Jewish history, thanks. The diaspora, yes, was a diaspora. It doesn’t mean that “Jewish” is a national identity, no.

In fact, it means it survived a transition away from a national identity, and, later, as secular Jews became more common, a transition away from a religious identity as well.

You’re using the word ‘nation’ in a way that’s specialized.
