Here is my thought: we indeed have much in common, or a better way of saying it is there are few things we don’t have in common regarding personal lives, outside of class, urban/country, which is not necessarily a liberal/conservative thing, etc…. Politically, however, I think we have little in common, anymore. No value judgment here, just an observation: the liberals are for the status quo; the conservatives, at least libertarian-conservatives, want a dramatic departure from business as usual, i.e., taxes.
