Yes, that’s correct, but as far as I know there are no platinum ETFs listed on any US exchange. Futures trading is not for the faint-hearted, and is not a realistic alternative for a small investor, unless you join an investment pool. Buying into an ETF (or buying bullion or coins) is a different story.

Is there a futures market for meltdowns?
