I disagree. It’s a daunting task, but not impossible. Crowd control in a theocratic nation should not be that difficult to implement.

It’s simply an insane task in the modern world. Originally it made sense, because there weren’t even half a billion people on the entire planet when Islam was first practiced, and the fastest travel was by horseback, now there are 1.7 million Muslims alone, and they’re all required once in their lives to fly to one location during a single short window that opens up once every lunar year. It’s a logistical nightmare.

I mean, I realize this is me talking out my ass, but I don’t get why the Saudi Royal Family couldn’t get support from religious leaders for extending the Hajj to a year round event, if nothing else on a humanitarian / compassionate basis. Sure hardliners would complain, to put it mildly, but the current situation strikes me as demographically untenable and it’s only going to get worse. Something needs to be done.
