The last time I went to the mall was about 1992. I started at one end, hit all the stores I needed and walked straight through to the other side. Walked around the outside of the mall to get back to my car. Now my local mall is a hang out for 2 gangs: Young punks asses and elderly people.

I’ve done all my main shopping over the Internet for several years now, but I always go to the mall anyway, as noted. With all the shopping pressure removed, I actually kind of like the holiday buzz.

But traffic is down noticeably this year over anything I’ve seen in the recent past.

I expect we’ll see another round of layoffs shortly, as retailers calculate their balance sheets.
