The tone-deafness is just typical of the tech-bro climate, a group of people so enamored with their little (but highly paid) world that they are not in touch with the wider culture.

The ad was made by people who know a whole lot about computers but do not know much about psychology and history.

Wasn’t it a take on their 1984 mac ad? Instead of smashing IBM, they’re smashing old creativity tech.
