Good morning folks, hot & humid day in Toronto… a perfect day a… Garbage Strike! Yesiree, 24,000 city employees are out on strike to defend their precious right to 18 bankable sick-days per year.

My employer gives me 4 sick days but if I don’t use them in a year, I cannot roll them over to the next year. I thought that was ok.

Meanwhile, the city is nearly bankrupt, property taxes are getting jacked up and just in time for the summer, city run pools & parks are being closed. Still that’s all worth it so I can continue to fund the 18 bankable sick-days per year for the union employees. I wouldn’t want to live in a city that can’t afford that!

Last year it was Vancouver with the garbage strike. Winnipeg looks better and better…
