The left of the party considers the people who are why my state is reliably Democratic and has been able to accomplish our goals to be DINOs. Suburban Va isn’t Brooklyn politically. Play to what works where you are. That’s all I’m asking. Ffs I hate this all or nothing shit.

My personal beliefs are very hard core left; lot’s of Marx leavened with Smith & Keynes. But that only plays without freakout in a tiny handful of urban enclaves in the US. Never mind that the police, fire departments, libraries, etc are all examples of Socialist policy, the word has been abused so much that the vast majority of Americans are terrified of it. Since I’m more interested in leaving a better world behind than in being dogmatic - economically or religiously - I work for slow incremental progress.

That said, loud people like AOC (who having won re-election is no longer a freshman :) ) sitting in a safe place are the ones that can shift the discussion so that it by contrasting it against their “extreme” positions :D we are making our incremental changes.

That is how we’ll get police reform and all the other things that people need done once we have the deadlock in the senate cracked by election, appointment out of the senate or indictment.
