I was working at my home town newspaper back when President Reagan was shot. I was a photographer (you don’t say?). The news came across the wire and my boss told me “Quick grab your camera! We’ll do some man-in-the-street interviews!”
About a half-hour into the situation, we ran across of couple of young ladies (and I use the term loosely) with about four kids in tow between them, and one of them had another on the way. When we asked them if they had heard that President Reagan had been shot, the pregnant one replied:
“Good! I hope he dies!”

This response, of course, was not printed. Draw your own conclusions.
