Lady I used to teach with would blow the kid’s minds in religion class by pointing out that Mary could have said no.

Then why the whole immaculate conception, having Mary be born without original sin? It seems that if God was going to create one perfect vessel to carry his child then there probably wasn’t a whole lot left up to chance.
