Believe it or not, this is the reason why I support bans on smoking in bars and restaurants. When I was a non-smoker I didn’t care; when I was (briefly) a smoker I wanted the opportunity to smoke in those places…as an exsmoker now, I know the only times that I really have to struggle with the urge to start again is there.

Banning smoking in bars and restaurants is a good policy, IMO, not just because of the secondhandsmoke issue but because it helps smokers to quit and most of all, helps those who have quit to stay quit.

How about letting the owner of the bar/ restaurant decide if he/she wants to allow smoking or not?
Yes, they COULD lose business to non-smokers, but that should be their call, not the gov’ts nor the non-smoking publics
