I’m sorry, are you saying people who say ‘conservative’ these days has come to mean ‘reactionary’ are not openly considering ‘the other side’?

How about a recent development on the national budget. A very recent headline read that the two sides have agreed on only one thing. There will be no “grand bargain” on taxes, entitlements and spending. There needs to be one.

We need to increase taxes and increase spending, yeah, but the GOP isn’t going to let that happen while they hold the house.
