Anyone watch the Discovery show “Pitchmen?” They put a little of that ‘reality-show’ drama into it, but that aside, it’s an interesting look into television marketing.

The Pitch is a craft, and Billy worked his tail off at it. He was one of the best.

Actually, a serious question about Mays. Before he made a name for himself (or before he was this big) he came across (not in a negative sense) as somebody who was already established: “Hi, Billy Mays here for…” which implies that he was already somebody, like the host of a home improvement show or something. Was that his schtick? Did he become a “household” name by making it seem as if he were already a household name? Kinda cool, if so.
