Now at the website of VG, Norway’s largest newspaper: a cute little Flash game in which readers can throw a shoe at Bush, just like an Iraqi journalist: Kast en sko på Bush her!

So many people are going to live such meaningless lives with no hint of amusement or direction once Bush leaves office and Our Messiah-King is anointed and crowned upon His Heavenly Throne.

Michael Savage is currently going off of the Secret Service, saying this incident is the most grievous breakdown in Secret Service history. Golly, I love hyperbole! I think that November 22, 1963 was a bigger breakdown than December 13, 2008. And, to quote Austin Powers, who throws a shoe? Honestly. Since Norway is the birthplace of telemark skiing, I give the shoe-throwing game three thumbs up! I nailed the president on the second try. If this game came from, say, France, I'd be spewing righteous indignation. But the Telemark region of Norway spawned my passion of freeheel skiing, so they get kudos. Now, let's throw shoes at Hamid Karzai.

That game probably fits the intellectual level of the average moronic Norwegian socialist that is clicking on it. Some of these people are so stupid and so blinded by their infantile USA hatred that recently the socialists would rather that the Norwegian Govt choose Swedish fighter jets over American, a contract worth a huge sum. Luckily the idiotic Norwegian socialists and terrorist enablers didn't get their way and the contract was awarded to the US.

Toss Lutefisk!

Hear that gagging sound? It's Norwegian-Americans attempting to connect with their heritage.

It happens every year at this time; thousands of people choke down an infamous concoction called lutefisk. What people in America don't know is that most Norwegians came to their senses decades ago and quit eating the stuff.

To make lutefisk, catch yourself a cod. Take out the bones, skin it, salt it, and hang it out to dry for several weeks until it hardens and smells like a dumpster. Then, bring it inside and soak it in lye for several days.

Make Love, Not Lutefisk

Seattle holds hearings on a (declared illegal by the State AG) Gun Ban.

State law allows people with concealed-weapons permits to carry guns in public, except at schools, jails and courthouses, but the mayor wants to go above the state law and make all city facilities gun-free.

Let's make more areas safe for would be mass murderers.

If that's what Savage thinks, then he clearly DOESN'T think. Not only was Nov 22, 1963 bad as it gets for the USSS, so was the time that guy shot President Reagan (although I do give props to some members of the USSS for their actionst that day - indeed, iirc, one of them literally "took a bullet" for the President.
What the hell is Savage drinking or smoking?

Oddly enough if you try the game it is all about velocity (hatred) nothing about aim. It is really Fitting that any moron can repeat full force hits time after time for this crowd. No other game could survive on the net with this little amount of actual effort/thought from the player. This one will since it feeds their BDS.

Ah, there was no USSS when Lincoln was murdered. He'd let Pinkerton - the dude who started the Pinkerton Detective Agency protect him from time to time, but no regular guards around Lincoln. And given that half the country hated him enough to kill him, it's amazing he didn't have some sort of security detail.

The problem is that Savage rarely thinks for more than a few seconds running.

He's a somewhat educated hyper emotional child, and I gave up on getting more than five minutes of rationality from him long ago. He is now deemed the AntiChrist by the actually popular local talk host and relegated to the Art Bell region of time slots.

The USSS was originally chartered to combat counterfeitting, with the assassination of McKinley being the catalyst for protection of the POTUS.

Strictly speaking, homicide is when a human kills another human. Homicide, in and of itself, is not a crime. By that definition, it would not matter what happened legally - someone kills someone else - it is a homicide.

123 Dustyvet  Mon, Dec 15, 2008 10:30:15pm

The presidential party arrived at Ford's at about 8:30 P.M. Armed with a single shot derringer and a hunting knife, Booth arrived at Ford's at about 9:30 P.M. Joseph Burroughs, a boy who worked at the theater, held his horse in the rear alley. Booth went next door to a saloon for a drink. He entered the front of Ford's Theatre around 10:07 P.M. Slowly he made his way toward the State Box where the Lincolns were sitting with Clara Harris and Henry Rathbone. Lincoln's bodyguard, John Parker of the Metropolitan Police Force, had left his post. At about 10:15 P.M. Booth opened the door to the State Box, shot Lincoln in the back of the head at near point-blank range, and struggled with Rathbone. Booth stabbed Rathbone in the arm and jumped over 11 feet to the stage below. When he hit the floor he snapped the fibula bone in his left leg just above the ankle. Many in the theater thought he yelled "Sic Semper Tyrannis" (Latin for "As Always to Tyrants"). Mrs. Lincoln screamed, Booth flashed his knife at the audience, and he made his way across the stage in front of more than 1,000 people. Everything happened so fast that no one had time to stop him. Booth went out the back door, climbed on his horse, and escaped from the city using the Navy Yard Bridge.

re: #91 Dustyvet

Why would anyone eat that stuff if they did not absolutely have to? Seriously?

Lutefisk is made from air-dried or salted/dried whitefish (normally cod, but ling is also used), prepared with lye, in a sequence of particular treatments. The watering steps of these treatments differ slightly for salted/dried whitefish because of its high salt content. The first treatment is to soak the stockfish in cold water for five to six days (with the water changed daily).

The saturated stockfish is then soaked in an unchanged solution of cold water and lye for an additional two days. The fish will swell during this soaking, attaining an even larger size than in its original (undried) state, while its protein content decreases by more than 50 percent, producing its famous jelly-like consistency. When this treatment is finished, the fish (saturated with lye) has a pH value of 11–12, and is therefore caustic.

To make the fish edible, a final treatment of yet another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked.

I locked my keys in my truck. (Didn't lock myself out of my apartment - just my truck). I called the nearest locksmith, and it was two young Israeli guys. Two years ago, when I moved from next door (apartment flooded), I called local movers: two - wait for it - young Israeli guys. All four of them were cute.

Conversation with one of the locksmiths:
Him: "You're not Jewish, are you?"
Me: "No, I'm Irish Catholic."
Him: "What are you doing in this neighborhood?"
Me" "Hey, we're a regular United Nations here!"

When I took a cab about a year ago, the driver was an Indonesian guy. He wasn't cute, but he was nice.

With all five guys, I ended up giving them direction on where to get help with investing for retirement/a new business (no advice - just direction on where to GET help). What can I say? I'm chatty and helpful.

I can't seem to get the hang of using a laptop, and daughter kindly sent me this after I went nuts trying to use her laptop (a PC back then), and she was doubled over, ROFTL at my feeble attempts.

re: #256 karmic_inquisitor

Cs (I was told) could be made into good meals if you had a cooking fire. But noise and light discipline usually made that impossible. I can't remember eating a C ration hot - we didn't even use the "heat tabs" although some REMF units would. I can remember the first time I had the dehydrated strawberry's in an MRE - it was heaven.

if you'd been Mech, you could have nestled them in the engine compartment...

and naturally, they got rid of the dehydrated strawberrries after a very short period of time... i still miss them.

No kidding, it works. You just have to be willing to suffer a bit for your food, going in and out. The payoff: after a few concoctions like that, the word gets out. When the moochers + friends open the fridge, they will not touch anything they did not make themselves.

"No, no. I ain't eatin' it. I won't even touch it. The Behemoth could have made that. That crazy fool eats stuff that could jump start a space shuttle. His t.p. must be made from asbestos."

Depended on which C-rat you drew. I could eat the Spaghetti one, while some guys hated it-but some were bad. But you always got your TP, matches, and cigarettes with 'em.
Speaking of MRE's, we dropped those to feed the Afghanis after starting into it, remember. It was a week or so later that they thought to tell the people not to eat the TP and something else...sheesh.

Thinking back, the spaghetti wasn't all that bad - a bit like chef boy-ar-dee IIRC.

I also now remember what a pain it was to haul out the cans - they always had some residual liquid in them that would get all over the inside of your ruck. So you would stick them in the outermost ammo pockets and then they'd bang around if you ran with you ruck on.

The big complaint I remember about MREs when they came out were that they "plugged you up". I remember talking to some Major about out and he claimed the foods were designed to be "low bulk" so that you could sweat out and urinate out most of the waste. Idea was that it is hazardous to take a dump in an NBC environment or if you are sitting in a tank for a week. Then there were the rumors about "salt peter" being in them. Never bought that idea.

I gave up on Savage several years ago after he called Elizabeth Smart's dad an unmanly wuss, etc because he cried when she was returned to the family after being kidnapped. He can be such a crass SOB sometimes (though I did like the name 'Rat Boy' for John Walker Lindh).

the biggest problem with MRE's is that they are low moisture, so that with the routine state of semi-dehydration that is so easy to attain in the field, the body "can't" move them along... that's one reason why they have moved away from the original selections with many dehydrated items.

that and troops bitched like mad. %-)

These al-Jazeera wanna-be propagandists are saying this goes against the principle of Freedom of the Press...

When first seeing this vid, I thought Pres Bush should have:
1. caught the shoe, midflight, and thrown it back at him, laughing all the way, saying "I am not buying shoes here."
2. Stuck out his toung and laughed at him, after two missed shoe shots. Bush played Yale baseball, afterall.
3. Pulled out his "personal defense device" and dispached the asshole with a .41 magnum head-shot.
4. Had the SS stand him up and address him saying that "I did not invest all our capital and all our American lives in freeing the Iraq people from a jerk not unlike like you, just to allow an Asshole just like you to disparage that sacriface, now, do you really want to face the wood chipper, as in the days of old? Shit, we should have taken all the oil anyway, then, at least all the Arabs/Iranians and their sponored terrorists would know who won this war!" Now GFYS.

The "M" unit came in 12 basic varieties grouped in 3 menus of 4 different entrees (later supplemented by "Alternate" variant entrees):

* M-1: Beefsteak, Chicken w/. Noodles, Cooked Ham Slices in Juices, Tuna Fish. M-1A: Fried Ham Slices or Turkey Loaf.
* M-2: Meat Chunks w/. Beans in Tomato Sauce, Ham & Lima Beans, Beef Slices w/. Potatoes in Gravy, or Beans w/. Frankfurter Chunks in Tomato Sauce. M-2A: Spaghetti w/. Meatballs in Tomato Sauce.
* M-3: Chopped Ham & Eggs, Beef in Spiced Sauce, Pork Steak, or Boned Chicken or Turkey. M-3A: Meat Loaf or Cooked Pork Slices in Juices.

The "B" unit came in three different varieties:

* B-1: 7 Crackers and 2 Chocolate Discs (Types: Solid Chocolate, Chocolate Creme, or Chocolate Coconut).
o Peanut Butter Spread.
* B-2: 4 Hardtack Biscuits and a cookie sandwich or fudge disc.
o Cheese Spread (Types: Plain Cheddar, Processed Cheese w/. Pimentos, or Processed Cheese w/. Caraway Seeds) .
* B-3: 4 Cookies and a packet of Cocoa powder.
o Jam Spread (Types: Apple, Mixed Berry, Mixed Fruit, Grape, or Strawberry) .

The "D" unit came in three different types:

* D-1 (Fruit): Halved Apricots, Sliced Peaches, Quartered Pears, Fruit Cocktail. D-1A (Fruit): Applesauce.
* D-2 (Cake): Pound Cake, Fruitcake, Orange Nut Roll, Cinnamon Nut Roll. D-2A (Cake): Date Pudding.
* D-3 (Bread): White Bread. (There were no alternates).

Each menu was grouped by their unit number (i.e., M-1, B-1 and D-1 items were grouped together). As an example, the jam in the B-3 unit was meant to be spread on the White Bread in the D-3 unit. Alternate items (designated with an "A" suffix) were introduced to provide variety and reduce the monotony. Since their cans were the same size, the M-1/B-1 and M-3/B-3 group items were often switched (i.e., M-1 and D-3 grouped with B-3 or M-3 and D-1 grouped with B-1).

The "B"-unit's Crackers & Candy can was lined with a piece of corrugated cardboard to protect the contents from damage. In the "D"-unit, the white bread came in one solid cylindrical piece, while the pound cake, fruitcake, Orange Nut Roll, and Cinnamon Roll came wrapped in paper wrappers like cupcakes.

The Accessory Pack came with salt, pepper, sugar, instant coffee, non-dairy creamer, 2 pieces of candy-coated chewing gum, a packet of toilet paper, a 4-pack of commercial-grade cigarettes, and a book of 20 cardboard moisture-proof matches.

Typical commercial brands issued in the cigarette ration were: Camel, Chesterfield, Kent, Kool, Lucky Strike, Marlboro, Pall Mall, Salem, or Winston. Due to health concerns, cigarettes were eliminated from the accessory packs in 1975.[2]

Lizards, would you think less of me if I told you I liked grits?

I wonder how many people will eat polenta, but turn up their noses at "grits" just because of the name?

(They're both coarse-ground cornmeal, although grits are actually better for you because of the alkali processing that turns "regular corn" into "hominy" -- which makes the proteins in the corn more absorbable by the body. Back in the old days, dirt-poor Italians who had to subsist on almost nothing but polenta during the lean months would show protein-deficiency symptoms, while dirt-poor American Southerners subsisting on almost nothing but grits were relatively healthy by comparison.)

Anyway, I love grits, and sometimes cook them polenta-style with garlic, Italian herbs, and parmesan cheese, rather than as a breakfast dish.

I am trying, really trying to give Obama a fair shake. "He will be our president," i keep telling myself, "i know he has no experience, etc., but you really have to give him the chance to succeed."

Then i see shit like this and I start to feel like a man who wrote into instapundit a while back who said he would hate obama as revenge on all the people who hated bush. he would be unfair to obama because they were so unfair to bush. and so forth.

I know that is the wrong thing to do, but this classless treatment of him on the way out makes it hard to do the right thing. and no, its not the international reaction. we expect that. it is Americans making common cause with them against the president.

I thought no one President more beneath the office of the President than Clinton. But if I met him I would treat him with the respect that he never afforded his office.

I am sick of being the good guy, in face of an opposition that behaves like children. I am sick of being patriotic in a simple and direct way in the face of an opposition that has an, ahem, expansive concept of patriotism. I am sick of being fair when the other side is not.

And to the left, there will be a day when my patience with your crap runs out.

Screw that. I officially retract my support for Obama simply because his followers are scum. I had originally wished him well since it would for the good of the country but not any more. I hope his administration crashes and burns because the damage liberals would cause by getting more power through his successful presidency would be worse than any short term damage the messiah could cause by enacting the Jimmy Carter presidency part 2.

I'm officially joining the knee-jerk anti Obama crowd over this. For anybody on the left to support the President of the United States getting physically attacked shows that they're just violent thug fascist pigs.
