Blair Eggs Self

At his Daily Telegraph blog, live from Australia, Tim Blair has a new piece and it contains some funny stuff. The funny part isn’t in Tim’s Snide Potshot school of writing, though — it’s in one of his punchlines. Blair says I have “reverted,” and links to this LGF post from June 20, 2001 to prove it: so we can have cheney???

Osama bin Laden has a Plot to assassinate Bush according to this story. doesn’t he realize that the shrub is just a figurehead? what would this accomplish?

What’s funny there? No, not the overuse of punctuation in the title, combined with lack of uppercase letters, although that’s kinda funny — the really funny bit is that the post Tim picked to represent me was actually written by my brother. In the early days of LGF, da braddah wrote a few posts; that’s one of his.

Michael emailed about this very post recently, because someone linked to it in a comment here, and he wanted to make sure he got credit for writing it, which he deserves. Please note that Michael was on to Osama bin Laden at an early stage — long before 9/11.

Come to think of it, that’s probably how Blair got wind of it in the first place, by reading that comment thread. Thanks for reading LGF so carefully, Tim! You might actually learn something that way.

Stinky Beaumont used to say, “Sometimes, a smear becomes a self-egging.” Really. He said it all the time. Had to ask him to stop.
