Pope Benedict: Condoms Might Be OK For Male Prostitutes
I was going to write that Pope Benedict seems to be softening his position on this, but that just didn’t sound right: Pope: condoms can be justified in some cases.
Benedict said that for male prostitutes — for whom contraception isn’t a central issue — condoms are not a moral solution. But he said they could be justified “in the intention of reducing the risk of infection.”
This statement is still very weird. The Pope is asked if condoms can be justified at all, and the only example that occurs to him is … a male prostitute?
