American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer: Homosexuals Are Child Molesters

Just another blast of anti-gay hatred from the religious right
Wingnuts • Views: 41,718

Bryan Fischer of the religious right organization American Family Association (a co-sponsor of Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s upcoming prayer rally) puts his unique spin on Michele Bachmann’s “John Wayne” gaffe — according to Fischer, it was a big mistake for liberals to bring up John Wayne Gacy because homosexuals are child molesters.

But here’s the pit into which the left has fallen, the one they tried to dig for Ms. Bachmann. They are going out of their way to remind us of John Wayne Gacy, who was a homicidal homosexual pedophile who raped and murdered 33 boys and young men, most of whom he buried in the crawl space of his house. The rest he dumped off a bridge into the Des Plaines River.

So liberals, by going out of their way to snarkily remind us of John Wayne Gacy, are inadvertently reminding us of the clear connection between homosexuality and pedophilia, which isn’t the smartest thing they’ve ever done.

Homosexuals comprise less than three percent of the population, but are responsible for fully a third of all instances of pedophilia. A study of 229 convicted child molesters in Archives of Sexual Behavior revealed that 86% of the offenders against males self-identified as homosexual or bisexual. Eighty-six percent!

Bottom line: homosexual or bisexual men are about 10 times more likely to molest children than heterosexual men. Big “Whoops!” for the libs on this one. And they’ve got no one but themselves to blame.

Don't forget to include that Fischer's American Family Association is also on the Southern Poverty Legal Center's "Hate Group" list.

Plus, that number that he gives of gays being at only 3% is considered low by almost all standards - most estimates put the number somewhere between 7% and 10%.

re: #5 albusteve

I suppose he's saying that if you are a man and molest boys you are both a pedophile and a homosexual, but I don't think that holds up as a definition.

All the anti-gay hysteria on the right makes no damn sense. I thought they were supposed to be for individual liberty and all that. Guess not.

I bet that Fischer has the wildest porn on his computer, and that he's got some massive guilt over some sex dreams and repressed desires. It's the only explanation, aside from Dim Hoft levels of gibbering ignorance, for someone to be so obsessed with gays.

I think the logic - or rather the mental process - connected to this thinking is as such: homosexuality is an abomination unto the Lord.

Therefore those who would offend him in this most essential manner (and what could be more essential than our sexual nature?) would not shy from offending him in other ways any chance they could get: with children, with beasts and with unwilling partners forced into committing acts of unspeakable evil.

Fischer cites a study by the Archives of Sexual Behavior that claims 86% of male molestation was done by an offender who self-identified as bisexual or homosexual. I have searched the AoSB articles for this, but have yet to find the study he's claiming. Link below goes to the archive search:

[ “Behavior Patterns of Child Molesters.” 17 Archives of Sexual Behavior 77, 83 (1988).] That study has a few flaws for those trying to make such definitive statements, but the refutations and corrections and questions never seem to show up.

Greetings everyone
Even though I read LGF almost every day, and have done so for 4 years I almost never post, but I have to share this with you. I work at a research facility so I have access to scientific literature. I knew that this was BS, so I found the study that Fischer is referring to. Here it is: [Link: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...]

The central sentence Fisher is referring to is this (page 83):

"Eighty-six percent of offenders against males described themselves as homosexual or bisexual."

But here is the catch. On page 82:

Seventy percent of child victims were female, 26 % were male. Only 4 % of the offenders molested children of both sexes"

I will make you draw your own conclusions.

I've been looking online to find scientific research that rebuts Fischer's assertions, and I can't find a specific reference. But my basic rebuttal is based upon logic - even if male homosexuals are statistically more likely to molest children than male homosexuals, if the overall percentage of males is very small, that means that a very large majority of male homosexuals are not child molesters.

For example, if there are 10 million male homosexuals in the U.S., and there are 1 million child abusers, and 1/3 of the child abusers are male homosexuals, that means that 3.3% of male homosexuals are child abusers.

I doubt if these numbers are accurate - my point is that, even if Fischer's statistics are taken at face value, the vast majority of male homosexuals are not child molesters.

Well, you are missing the irony. Did beck denounce the Tea Partiers for creaming at lawmakers at the Capitol hill Tea Party? How about the black contruction worker who wandered through the Ground zero mosque rally and was mistaken for an islamist infiltrator because of his hat? He complains that people took his picture but he thinks Breitbart and Okeefe are just spiffy for secretly taping acorn and planned parenthood workers. If you've ever been to these lawn seating events being bumped or having things spilled on you is expected, it was probably a mistake. Who throws champagne? He's done nothing but foster hatred, one of his fans almost went on a killing spree because of Beck's conspiracy theories about the Tides Foundation.
I would have more sympathy for him if he also denounced the violence and ugliness that he causes, not just when it's directed back at him.
The crowd applauded when he left. Boo Hoo!

86 Hal_10000  Tue, Jun 28, 2011 3:15:55pm

I think he's referencing long-debunked research that was so obviously wrong at the time it would only be quoted by lunatics and the ignorant (and Fischer is both). They did some LEXUS-NEXUS search and found as many reports of people molesting kids of their own gender or both as of the opposite gender. So if you assume homosexuals are only 3% of the population, you can extrapolate that out.

But it's total complete garbage. Homosexual men are attracted to grown men. Homosexual women are attracted to women. Pedophiles are attracted to children. They aren't homosexual or heterosexual, they're pedophiles. And most of them pretend to be straight so they don't attract attention.

For God's sake, he's talking about John Wayne Gacy. Gacy was married to a woman and molesting boys. Not because has gay but because he was pedophile lunatic.

Boo Hoo!

re: #69 Alexzander

I think it's odd that Beck and his family don't realize he makes his money by being a celebrity. That means you and your family get their pictures taken. He has encouraged violence against others, but is outraged when he is called names? (Rude, but I can't believe he was in fear.)
The story doesn't hang together well-wine or champagne was kicked at his wife and soaked her blouse? Really? Was she lying flat on the grass?
His daughter wrote a letter of apology to her mother for getting them into this situation? That's just bizarre.
And what is with his repeated meme of people getting their courage from a bottle? Rowdy drunks at a Hitchcock movie?

I wouldn't go that far. I don't condone people yelling rude things at him and I wouldn't do it myself but the people in that park don't like him and they are free to tell him so. It's their constitutional right to speak their mind in public.

As far as Beck goes. Live by the douche, die by the douche...

Beck is a former alcoholic so that struggle really defines his worldview.

I think that's insulting to alcoholics.....

Ahem. Bryant Park is Gay Camelot. The Gay Pride and other mass events have centered on it for years. Throw in a vintage film fest. Do you think he was unaware of this?

and yet NY has legalized gay marriage! Progress in the face of... people like him!

reminding people of homosexuality isn't the smartest thing he's ever done, because it's clear to the vast majority of people that he is a bigot and is being left behind by society.

(funny note: studying for NY bar currently and the barbri lecturer, in the context of the NY Gary marriage law, had an aside today saying to apply the law as written and not your personal beliefs, or you might fail)

Remember the Santorum principle: homosexuality is the moral equivalent of bestiality, paedophilia or wife-beating.

Wife beating is not such a big deal to him, one speculates.

You mean being dropped on his head as a child, or raised a mormom?

He wasn't raised a Mormon. He's an adult convert.

Well, sort of. He talks like an Evangelical half the time, and the other half he just sounds crazy.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the quote. But to take his syllogism all the way to the end, the one thing that is clear is that the overwhelming majority of sexual molestations are carried out by men. Ergo, the undeniable connection between being male and pedophilia. Wow, hard to believe 49% of the world's population is predisposed to pedophilia. I guess I just got lucky that I prefer adult women.
