Herman Cain Harassment Victim’s News Conference
One of the women who was paid a five-figure sum to buy her silence by Herman Cain is about to release a statement, probably through her attorney. Here’s an open thread to discuss…
(And you can bet this woman will be rapidly attacked by the right wing blogosphere, no matter what she says.)
The statement was very carefully crafted and not very detailed, other than making it clear that this was a case of sexual harassment. The woman’s attorney, Joel Bennett, did reveal a few pieces of important information:
1) There was more than one incident of sexual harassment.
2) The woman was married at the time.
3) Herman Cain received a detailed formal internal complaint, and disputed it; Bennett said he’d be “astounded” if Cain didn’t know about it (as Cain has claimed).
Following the press conference, the National Restaurant Association issued their own statement in which they waived the confidentiality agreement, and gave Bennett’s client permission to comment.
