Planned Parenthood Bomber May Have Attended Anti-Abortion Protests

Police investigating reports that bombing suspect may be involved in the anti-choice movement

TPM has learned that police are investigating reports that the suspect in the Wisconsin Planned Parenthood firebombing may have attended anti-abortion protests at the clinic.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the man accused in the weekend bombing of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Wisconsin may have been involved with anti-abortion protests there in the past, a police official told TPM on Wednesday.

Francis Gerald Grady, 50, was charged Tuesday with two federal crimes in the attack, which took place Sunday night in the town of Grand Chute. No one was injured and the explosion did only minor damage to the clinic.

Grand Chute Police Chief Greg Peterson said investigators in the case learned that Grady may have been involved in past protests at the office. The information was so far unconfirmed, Peterson said, but it is being looked at closely by the team of local and federal investigators handling the case.

No kidding? Bomber may not have approved of bombed target? Someone fetch me my freaking smelling salts.

Makes sense. Protesting the clinic first would have given him insight into their daily routines and allowed him to case the joint.

Water may be wet.

Some scientists say that there are situations in which water is not wet. Now does that sound right to you?

Sounds to me like someone looking for big government research handouts.

That reminds me of an analogy. Think of a bacon and egg breakfast. The chicken was involved. The pig was committed.

This guy went beyond involvement, whether he went to meetings or not, if he's the bomber.

No surprise here.

This is why I expect November to be violent. This is all I see out of the other side. Violent rhetoric and violent actions.

Tea Party Introduces ‘Wacky’ And ‘Ludicrous’ Conspiracy Bill To Shut Down Arizona Energy Efficiency Programs

The bill’s sponsor, Arizona State Senator Judy Burges, says her goal is to wipe out any environmental program administered or funded by the government to prevent “social engineering … including where we live, what we eat.”

Burges’ bill, Senate Bill 1507, is based upon an unfounded conspiracy theory about “Agenda 21,” a non-binding international plan for environmentally-sustainable development crafted by the United Nations. The plan was adopted in 1992 by 178 countries, including the United States under the George H.W. Bush administration.

Burges and other members of the Tea Party believe that clean energy programs in Arizona are a plot by the United Nations to create a single world government in order to control people’s lives. AZ Central reported on SB 1507:

The bill would bar the state and Arizona counties and cities “from adopting or implementing the United Nations Rio Declaration on Environment and Development.”

Under the provisions of Burges’ bill, the state, counties and cities could not accept funds from, spend funds from or give funds to “certain non-governmental organizations,” including non-profit groups and contractors, for any of the declaration’s initiatives.

Wes Harris, a Phoenix resident and tea-party member, also testified with Burges, repeating theories about the declaration that have been floated among conservative organizations such as the John Birch Society, which refer to the declaration as “Agenda 21.”

Harris claimed the declaration “is an attempt to implement a one-world order. It’s been going on for 20 years. It has not been ratified by the U.S. Senate. It has been snuck around the back door by the Clinton administration.”

Found this on Mother Jones just now:

UPDATE 37: Alleged letter from a Zimmerman family member calls NAACP "racists"; "enhanced" police video released

An anonymous member of George Zimmerman's family has allegedly written an open letter blasting the NAACP for characterizing Zimmerman as a racist. "If something happens to George as a result of the race furor stirred up by this mischaracterization of George there will be blood on your hands as well as the rest of the racists that have rushed to judgment," the letter states. "You need to call off the dogs. Period. Publicly and swiftly."

The letter, typos and all, was originally published by the Daily Caller, which claims to have confirmed the identity of the author. It's unclear why the author gave the letter to the Daily Caller; the site also claims to have been the first media outlet to have published Trayvon Martin's tweets under his Twitter handle, "NO_LIMIT_NIGGA." What is clear is that the letter writer fixates on the NAACP as the titular head of a violent and unruly African American community. "I will not be providing my name because all of our family is in hiding and frankly scared by the threats from the black community," the letter states. The letter goes on to claim that Zimmerman was actually an advocate for justice for a homeless black man who'd been assaulted by the son of a Sanford police officer in 2010.

Mother Jones could not independently confirm the author's identity, nor the claims that the letter-writer makes about Zimmerman's alleged activities on behalf of the homeless victim. The author claims to have "attached herewith a flyer that was placed on your constituents cars last year that might jog the memory of your amnesia-laden supporters"—but that attachment was not included in the Daily Caller's version of the letter, which we've posted in our collection of documents and videos related to the case.

NAACP President Ben Jealous didn't immediately comment on the letter, but last weekend he told MSNBC that "this isn't about whether Mr. Zimmerman is a racist. We have no idea. But it's about young black men being profiled, by white cops, by black cops, by people in the neighborhood watch program, by private security agencies in this town."

In other developments, ABC News Monday obtained an "enhanced" version of the police video of George Zimmerman's detention the night he shot Trayvon Martin. The recording shows possible gashes or marks on the back of Zimmerman's head—although, as MoJo's Kevin Drum points out, evidence of a struggle isn't necessarily proof of Zimmerman's self-defense claims.

Elsewhere on the web, Slate legal analyst Emily Bazelon has an excellent rundown of the most salient evidence that might be considered in court, if Zimmerman is eventually accused of a crime. "What we need to know is what happened in the moments before and during the shooting," she writes. "The rest says more about us than it does about the killing of Trayvon Martin, and whether it was a crime."

Zimmerman's family is just a bunch of human trash.

Sorry for the early OT, but this just happened:

5 cops get stiff sentences in Katrina shootings, cover-up

Five former New Orleans police officers were sentenced Wednesday to prison terms ranging from six to 65 years for their roles in deadly shootings of unarmed residents on a bridge after Hurricane Katrina.

Kenneth Bowen, Robert Gisevius, Anthony Villavaso and Robert Faulcon were convicted of firearms charges in the shootings.Retired Sgt. Arthur "Archie" Kaufman, who was assigned to investigate the shootings, was convicted of helping orchestrate the cover-up.
Faulcon received the stiffest sentence of 65 years. Bowen and Gisevius each got 40 years while Villavaso was sentenced to 38 years. Kaufman received the lightest sentence at six years.

A federal jury convicted the officers in August 2011 of civil rights violations in the shootings on the Danziger Bridge and the cover-up.
Police shot six people, killing two, less than a week after the storm's landfall on Aug. 29, 2005. To make the shootings appear justified, officers conspired to plant a gun, fabricate witnesses and falsify reports.

For them, the right to life ends at birth.

What was Barney Frank's famous quote? 'They believe life starts at conception and ends at birth,' or something like that.

It would be a mistake for the NAACP to characterize Zimmermann as a racist until the results of an investigation come out. Right now it is all speculation, despite a lot of circumstancial evidence that points to it.

I see, It was just assumed by the Zimmermann family that the NAACP are all racists: didn't Andrew Breitbard prove that with the example of Shirley Sherrod?
