Another person knows where Jimmy Hoffa’s body is…

Alleged Detroit gangster says he knows where Jimmy Hoffa is buried

A Detroit man described by federal agents as a formerly high-ranking gangster is breaking his silence about the unsolved mystery in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa after decades of refusing to answer questions.

The man — who federal agents say is a main character in the infamous unsolved mystery — says the union leader was buried in a field in suburban Detroit — about 20 miles north of the restaurant where he was last seen.
Eighty-five years old and barely able to walk, Tony Zerilli never thought this day would come.

“I’m dead broke. I got no money,” Zerilli told NBC 4 New York. “My quality of life is zero.”

This is hilarious.

I suppose it’s a good thing this woman isn’t American. She could have driven clear from Seattle to Miami without the road signs ever changing languages.

New Minnesota Vikings Stadium A Boondoggle Before It’s Even Built

Last spring, Gov. Mark Dayton (D-MN) and the Minnesota state legislature exploited a legal loophole to approve $348 million in public financing to help build a new stadium for the state’s National Football League franchise, the Minnesota Vikings. The majority of the state’s financing of the stadium would come from revenues gained from new electronic gambling machines placed in bars and restaurants — an idea that seemed fool-proof to Dayton and legislators since Minnesota ranks among the biggest states in charitable gaming.

Less than a year later, revenues from the electronic pull-tab machines are falling far short of projections, and even before ground has been broken on the new stadium, it already looks like a bad deal for Minnesota taxpayers. New financial projections say the revenue from gambling has come in below both monthly and daily targets, and the amount of cash on hand has been cut in half, Minnesota Public Radio reports:

Greg Sargent:

Debt ceiling endgame comes into view

This is a great catch by Jed Lewison. On MSNBC this morning, Rep. Greg Walden — a member of the House GOP leadership — would not directly answer when asked if the House would allow a vote on a debt ceiling hike without a majority of Republicans supporting it. If so, it could very well pass the House, mostly with Democratic support.

New Minnesota Vikings Stadium A Boondoggle Before It’s Even Built

Just because they figure out a loophole in order to do it never necessarily made it the right decision to go through with it. (And note that they were avoiding public feedback to *not* buy the Vikings ownership a new stadium on the public dime.)

Same games got played in western PA back when Three Rivers Stadium became obsolete. Referendum on a plan to raise taxes to pay for new stadiums was voted down, so “Plan B” was pulled out by local executives to use bonds and other means to put up a pile of public money for the construction.

House Republicans Can’t Find Any Co-Sponsors For Their Latest Obamacare Repeal Bills

In a sign that the GOP’s anti-Obamacare fervor may finally be giving way to political reality, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) latest Obamacare repeal bill doesn’t have a single co-sponsor in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Bachmann made introducing the repeal bill her first order of business for the 113th Congress, even as millions of Americans waited for House Republicans to act on a disaster relief package in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

30+ times. But that article is somewhat misleading. You’ve got several individual bills that do essentially the same thing, or that attack individual components of the PPACA, including eliminating the individual mandate (a proposal the Heritage Foundation and GOP embraced for more than 20 years until Obama decided to coopt it in lieu of a single payer - at which time the GOP/rw determined to call it unconstitutional).

The GOP hasn’t given up on undermining the PPACA, they’re just being more cagey about their intentions.

I was trying to find a way to indicate that they wanted to replace Three Rivers without making that a paragraph unto itself. And it was at the time that the various 60-70s multipurpose stadiums (Three Rivers, Riverfront, Veterans, etc.) were starting to develop minor structural issues, needed serious updates, and were generally being replaced with separate stadiums that were built to mainly support baseball or football as compared to being a compromise that tended to support neither very well in one or more ways.

A few more in Pittsburgh’s case since they share Heinz Field with the Univ. of Pittsburgh* and also use it for some high school games as well.

* - Said deal allowed Pitt to tear down their old stadium that dated to the 1930s and replace it with a new building to be used for basketball** and graduations, plus some additional construction of other facilities.

** - Pitt used to split basketball between the Civic Arena in downtown Pittsburgh (not a great b-ball venue) and the Field House (small capacity) on campus which was also fairly old.

Impeachmentum: Reagan AG Says Obama Can Be Impeached Over Guns

Former Reagan Attorney General Edwin Meese, now a prominent emeritus official at the Heritage Foundation, became the latest conservative to warn that President Obama could risk impeachment if he takes executive action on reducing gun violence in an interview Monday night.

Speaking with Newsmax, Meese said Congress may have to consider impeaching Obama if he were “to try to override the Second Amendment in any way” with an executive order. He did allow that there are some executive actions related to guns that Obama could take wouldn’t be impeachable.
