Another Mass Shooting in Las Vegas: “Tell the Police the Revolution Has Begun”

Local news reports suspect was middle-aged white man
Crime • Views: 34,647

Meanwhile in Las Vegas, we have another mass shooting by apparent anti-government lunatics; a report at KTNV: Two Suspects Dead After Police Shooting at Walmart Near Nellis and Stewart - www.ktnv.com.

Two police officers were said to have been shot after two suspects took their guns and ammunition a local Cici’s Pizza near Nellis and Stewart. They were taken to University Medical Center. Their condition is currently unknown.

The two suspects allegedly yelled ‘This is a revolution’ as they left the restaurant and headed to Walmart.

When the suspects entered Walmart, they shot and killed one citizen before going to the back of the store and engaging what officers called a suicide pact.

More details from KLAS-TV: UPDATE: Police Source: 1 Officer Dead, Following Shooting Near N - 8 News NOW.

Police say witnesses told them the suspects took the police officers’ gear and, as they were walking out of the restaurant after the shooting, they said, “tell the police the revolution has begun.”

Seriously? You’re gonna start a revolution with a trip to Cici’s Pizza? “We will either hang together, or hang separately,” Mr. Franklin was heard saying, as he tried to throw a triple-20 down at Bennigans……

2 teleskiguy  Jun 8, 2014 1:54:30pm

I just hope it was just a couple of nutcases and there is no further coordination with other nutcases.

Downstairs, there’s tweets flying around that both police officers have died. :(

3 b.d.  Jun 8, 2014 1:55:25pm

So confused. Are we supposed to be alarmed when middle aged white guys come into a big box store with guns or not?

btw, pretty damn lame revolution.

Prayers for the victims, shame politicians don’t care about any of them.

4 nines09  Jun 8, 2014 1:55:45pm

So tell me once again how the only thing that stops a “bad” man with a gun is a “good” man with a gun. Maybe the NRA can release a memo and clear this up for once and for all?

5 Shiplord Kirel  Jun 8, 2014 1:55:49pm

We’ve had a number of lone wolf attacks by individual lunatics. These are fairly easy for the RWNJ-conspiracy industy to disclaim. Now it’s two, a bit harder to dismiss. When will it be 3? Then 30? Then 300?
Method (SA guns), motive (paranoid conspiracy theories) and opportunity (everywhere) are all there.

Five reported dead in North Las Vegas police ambush

reviewjournal.com

“Details are sketchy and police have not yet confirmed the deaths of the officers, but sources within the Las Vegas Police Department say both were shot and killed by a man and a woman who approached them as they at lunch at the CiCi’s Pizza store at 309 N. Nellis Boulevard shortly before 11:38 a.m.

(snip)

“At a news conference at about 1 p.m. Deputy Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the male shooter, described as a tall white man, yelled “everyone get out” before shooting.

“The man and woman then went to the back of the store and “there was some kind of suicide pact,” McMahill said.”

Yeah, not much of a ‘revolution’ when the would-be revolutionaries kill themselves promptly after announcing the “revolution has begun”.

8 thedopefishlives  Jun 8, 2014 1:58:06pm

This is really getting ridiculous. I’m about the least in favor of gun control among the Lizardim, and at this point, I’m about ready to willingly give up my right to own guns if it meant things like this never happened again.

We are never going to get rid of guns in this country. By liberal counts, there are as many guns as people floating around. Guns are here to stay.

As a society we should figure out that some people just shouldn’t have guns, and find a system to keep guns out of those hands.

Who am I kidding? Any sensible gun debates are like farts in the wind, gone in an instant.

12 Shiplord Kirel  Jun 8, 2014 2:02:28pm

Sounds like the shooters intended a much larger incident and committed suicide only when they found themselves trapped in the Walmart. Why else would they take the officers’ gear if they only meant to carry out a suicide pact?

Thanks to Alex Jones and his ilk, any rational discussion of this subject is automatically dismissed as the product of a totalitarian conspiracy. Jones is probably the most evil bastard in the country who has not actually murdered anyone (assuming he hasn’t).

That sounds pretty logical. Maybe they were planning some kind of massacre, but then all their would-be victims ran out of the store or something, and they found themselves trapped with no way out.

Stealing body-armor and other police gear is unnecessary if someone’s simply planning to kill themselves.

I think that’s very likely. Walmart is big and there are a lot of ways out. This time of day it would not necessarily be very crowded. The would-be victims simply took off or hid, leaving the terrorists in the back and cops coming in the front door.

Running low these days. Even millions of Garands come to an end sooner or later. But $700 will still get you a basic “shooter” rifle just like dad/granddad carried in WWII or Korea.

CMP currently has the following rifles for sale:

M1 Garand
M1 Carbine
M1917 Enfield
22 Target Surplus
22 Target Commercial
Air Rifles
Misc. Rifles
Creedmoor Rifles & Accessories

None of these are popular among the nutcase/militia crowd. In practical terms some of them would be well suited to a survivalist “stuff hits the fan” scenario but they do not appeal to the underlying fantasy, which is what really matters. The Creedmoor rifle is a highly modified ‘03 Springfield for long range target shooting.

That’s just want the tyrant Obama wants you to think!

But seriously—how is this not terrorism? Even better, we have an assault going on in Pakistan that we can directly compare this to. We have people engaging in violence to further a political cause (beginning “the revolution” here, not sure what the cause is it Pakistan yet).

When can we start calling this domestic terrorism? When they start wearing explosive vests into shopping centers? When they blow up another Federal building?

In Alaska they had a trial a few months ago for a “sovereign citizen” who was organizing a hit list of Alaska State Troopers and Federal judges in a “2-4-1” plan: every time one of the militia members was arrested, they’d kidnap someone on the list; if a militia member was killed, they’d assassinate someone on the list. If a member’s house was seized by the government, they’d burn a government building down. (A Federal judge that my sister worked for was on the list, and I went to high school with two Alaska State Troopers that were targeted.)

I’m starting to think that “The Revolution” may actually be starting, and the right-wingers in the media are keeping us distracted long enough to let it really get on a roll.

That’s a good question.

What happens when an Open Carry activist walks into a Home Depot, or a Wal-Mart, or whatnot with his AR-15 and a Stand Your Ground type sees that, assumes that the Open Carry activist is there to perpetrate some kind of massacre, and blows him away?

That’ll be an interesting clash of wingnut philosophies, to say the very least.

I’m not well-versed in the laws about what someone is allowed to open carry and in what places, so I’ll make it easy.

If I see someone carrying an assault weapon in public, I’m calling 911. The SWAT team can determine whether it’s a crackpot with a death wish or someone with major insecurity issues.

CMP currently has the following rifles for sale:

Only the Garands, .22 target and air rifles are guaranteed available. Carbines and Enfields are sold by auction only on a case by case basis. Six carbines up for auction right now, all currently bid over $800 with five days left. No Enfields currently in stock.

WWII reenactors and collectors have really impacted the market in the last fifteen years or so. USGI Carbines used to be cheap as hell, you could walk into any gun store and see a barrel or two chock full of ‘em, now they’re seriously expensive and damned hard to find in decent shape.

In a way I feel sorry for these miserable fucks. They live life in constant fear and hatred, probably never having a chance to appreciate the beauty and poetry that is life.

I can’t imagine living that way. The normal ups and downs of life are hard enough. Adding a bunch of delusions about POTUS creating prison camps and rounding up Christians or whatever just makes no sense. Why would you add that kind of paranoia and stress to your mind for no reason?

That’s a good question.

What happens when an Open Carry activist walks into a Home Depot, or a Wal-Mart, or whatnot with his AR-15 and a Stand Your Ground type sees that, assumes that the Open Carry activist is there to perpetrate some kind of massacre, and blows him away?

That’ll be an interesting clash of wingnut philosophies, to say the very least.

It’s only a matter of time. Actually I’m surprised it hasn’t happened already. The reason is that these demonstrations have usually been carefully choreographed by competent, albeit depraved, media types like Alex Jones. As soon as the rank and file join in on their own, there will be some shooting.

Open Carry Texas has already factioned, with the ‘sane’ rump group insisting on notification w/ LE, the Young Doofi playing for surprise.

CMP currently has the following rifles for sale:

None of these are popular among the nutcase/militia crowd. In practical terms some of them would be well suited to a survivalist “stuff hits the fan” scenario but they do not appeal to the underlying fantasy, which is what really matters. The Creedmoor rifle is a highly modified ‘03 Springfield for long range target shooting.

Huh? Oh, in theory they have those for sale. Right now there are Garands for sale & M1 carbines for auction, IIUC. They ran out of refub drill rifle 1903’s a couple of years ago and haven’t had 1917’s in ages. Pity as I’d dearly love an Eddystone.

Yeah, I figure it’s only a matter of time as well, and given the nature of SYG laws, I’d say that person has a pretty good case for opening fire on OC activists. He or she felt immediately threatened at the presence of a guy in camo with an AR-15 walking down the aisle.

I’ve had this bookmarked for a while now: psychologytoday.com

Victim identity is identification with bad treatment you have suffered. It is focus on perceived damage at the hands of someone else or on personal weaknesses you feel were exploited by someone else. Damage and weakness become an integral part of your identity.

[Emphasis mine] Victim identity carries a retaliation impulse that eventually rises to the level of revenge, enacted either passively (negative attributions and sabotage) or dramatically. All abusers and violent criminals suffer from victim identity, which, in their minds, justifies their abuse and crimes. The retaliation motive of victim identity is so great that you can reliably use the following as a guideline: If you feel chronically like a victim, you are most likely abusive in some way.

It’s super easy:

Screwdriver = OJ & vodka

Greyhound = Grapefruit & vodka

Salty Dog = Grapefruit & vodka + a salt-rimmed glass

Sea Breeze = Grapefruit & cranberry & vodka + lime

Cape Cod = Cranberry & vodka + lime

Hm. On the other hand…

dallasnews.com

A 60-year-old Collin County woman, who asked not to be identified, said she was driving to a mall in March when she saw men with guns on a State Highway 121 overpass. She did not know they were Open Carry members, and she called Plano police.

Several weeks later, an Open Carry supporter posted her name and phone number on YouTube. She began to receive threatening texts and calls, she said.

“They were calling me names I haven’t heard since I was in middle school,” she said. “They were calling me a whore and all kinds of nasty names. … I think there’s some really crazy, unstable people out there.”

What better way to demonstrate that you’re a good guy with a gun than threatening to kill old ladies?

“I do have ammo just in case,” he said. “We have a lot of people who take issue with what I’m doing.”

Firing on attackers, Perez said, might be his only option. “If we’re out on a march today and we have a situation where they don’t like us and they try to run us over with a car,” he said, “I may have to defend myself.”

That’s right, the shooters tossed a Gadsden flag over the bodies of their victims. I’m sure that’s purely a coincidence, they were looking to start a revolution in color schemes or something. Nothing to do with Cliven Bundy’s loony supporters or the Tea Party in general. Nope. Nothing to see here. Move along.

136 Integral Doc  Jun 9, 2014 12:43:36am

Perhaps it’s time to have a serious discussion about the Right to Own a Gun with the responsibility of keeping it secure? Shift the onus/liability of ownership to the gun owner. Strengthen liability laws in a way that demands that manufacturers of guns use the appropriate technology to make them unusable in the wrong hands and owners who fail to report stolen weapons in a timely manner, at least partially responsible for the damages they cause.

Let “Free Market Capitalism” determine the actual costs/risks of extending ownership rights to any given individual……..young, stupid, inexperienced pays a very high premium for a gun…..older, proven safety record, satisfactory health evaluations, etc. lower premium. Some guns associated with low risk of misuse, low premium, etc.
