I’m enjoying a totally lazy day thus far since I got everything done for this evening’s campfire Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. Just gotta pop the dressing in the oven and warm a few things up. The “kids” can build the campfire - perfect job for college boys. Oh wait… maybe I should do that myself.

Here is what I am making for tonight’s dinner and for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night:
TONIGHT
Stewed flanken with
Potatoes
Carrots
Green Peppers
Onions
Basmati rice
FRIDAY NIGHT
Gefilte fish
Broiled rainbow trout
Chicken noodle soup
Roast boneless dark meat turkey roll
Sweet potatoes
Wild rice
Homemade challah
Lemon meringue pie

Wish me luck on the pumpkin pies. I’ve never managed to make one where the middle isn’t runny. Over the years, I’ve put pumpkin pie filling in ramekins and baked it like that, topped with whipped cream, and they are delicious without the pie crust that I don’t like anyway. Mr. Sionainn forgot all about that and bought all the stuff for pumpkin pies. *fingers crossed*

If that’s due to the crust getting over-brown before the filling is baked enough, try putting a strip of foil over the crust edge for part of the baking time.

FUCK BEST BUY.
Seriously they are THE WORST BUY.
I bought a dishwasher from them in August. Scheduled a delivery date and they kept putting it off and putting it off to random dates, not even bothering to call and ask if that date was convenient for me.
Finally after they put off my delivery FOR THE THIRD TIME I cancelled the order.
I saved the installation kit to use with the dishwasher that I did buy, it turned out they fucked that up too and sold me the wrong installation kit.
Also they lied to me about the original price of the dishwasher.
I bought the same dishwasher from Lowes for $100 less, installed within 6 days.

What kind of braindead morons would try to cure Ebola with homeopathy?
The Ebola virus kills you by essentially dissolving the walls of your veins, making you bleed to death from the inside in a massive internal haemorrhage. It’s absolutely fucking horrific. Dr Hiltner says his team went to Liberia carrying 110 potential homeopathic Ebola remedies. Based on the “like cures like” principle they needed other substances that kill you by haemorrhage. Among their brightest hopes were arsenic and rattlesnake venom. So exactly the kind of thing you want to put in your body when you’re already laid out in the ETU.

re: #61 The Vicious Fergushka
Many (many) years ago I had a philosophy professor who commented that our society had not come to terms with the amount of leisure time we have.
By which he was indicating that in a post-industrial, robotized society we now have more people than we need to produce the minimal amount of goods for basic life.
The reason Walmart can pay so little, and why the employees don’t “just get ANOTHER JOB” is that there is a surplus of labor for what is required.
I think the Scandinavian countries have done best (in what we call the West) in dealing with redistributing social goods to the population, but even they struggle with this issue and probably will continue to do so in the future. Even Japan does better than we when it comes to ensuring everybody in the society benefits from the total output of the society.

Trolltunga (Troll’s tongue) is a piece of rock jutting horizontally out of a mountain about 700 metres (2,300 ft) above the north side of the lake Ringedalsvatnet[1] in the municipality of Odda in Hordaland county, Norway. The cliff is located east of the Skjeggedal area, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the village of Tyssedal and the Sørfjorden (a branch off of the main Hardanger Fjord). The name translated to English is The Troll’s tongue.
