Right Wing Smear Merchant Chuck C. Johnson Offers “Bounty” for Another Rape Victim

Sick
Wingnuts • Views: 32,014

The worst person on Twitter took another dive into his own personal misogynistic sewer yesterday, posting a tweet offering a “bounty” for the name of a woman who reported being sexually assaulted at a Duke University frat party.

I think I might need to create a new category for posts about Johnson; maybe “Disgusting” or “Vile.”

I encourage all LGF readers with Twitter accounts to report this tweet; you can now report tweets that are not addressed directly to you, and Twitter has made the process much easier. Just click the timestamp in the tweet to go to the Twitter website, click the “More” link (it looks like ‘…’) and report it for targeted harassment.

I don’t understand why Twitter stands back and allows their service to be used for evil purposes like this; it damages their brand, and sends the message that they welcome misogynist creeps who harass rape victims. This is becoming Twitter’s reputation.

Charles, I was going to suggest you take a page from Keith Olbermann’s playbook and make “Worst Person on Twitter” a regular feature, but then I realized it would almost always be Chucky, with the occasional appearance by Todd Kincannon.

6 Charles Johnson  Jan 27, 2015 10:47:58am

Right wingers are jubilant over reports that Bowe Bergdahl is going to be charged with desertion, but…

Todd Kincannon apparently managed to get himself banned from Twitter for good. It does happen. I don’t know what more Chuck needs to do to get himself on that list; not even Kincannon ever offered a “bounty” for rape victims.

Yep, Twitter’s stopped with those messages saying it might do something if you jumped through the right set of hoops. When it made the process easier the goal was to simply make it more inscrutable. Twitter clearly doesn’t give a shit. Haven’t heard anything back from them about that account I reported for self harm, and that report was of an unambiguous threat of suicide.

Johnson doesn’t have an entire State Bar Association on his ass tho’. I wonder if Kincannon’s downfall wasn’t what he said, but the power of who he said it to and about.

From donotlink.com

Former S.C. “Republican” Party executive director Todd Kincannon - the self-described “Honey Badger” of American politics - has been booted from Twitter.

[…]

This website - which has said our share of crazy things - has always gotten along well with Kincannon. He’s insane, to be sure, and his commentary is typically more about shock value than it is stimulating legitimate conversation.

Amusing, they put “Republican” in quotes, admit he’s insane and over the top, yet they still refuse to denounce the loser.

Actually it looks like CCJ DID get suspended today and has only recently been reinstated. His account shows only 13 followers. This is what happens after a suspension is lifted, your followers go away for awhile and it takes some time for the database to reconnect them all.

Interesting.

re: #6 Charles Johnson

What I find troubling is that the following:

1) wanting to see Bergdahl recovered from enemy hands;
2) potentially charging Bergdahl with desertion;

are independent of each other. You can actually want to see justice done by getting him back into US custody, learn what he did, and then take the appropriate action against him - under the UCMJ.

But of course, the right wing will complain about what it took to get him released (even after spending years saying that Obama was doing nothing to get him released). And that all goes back to the fact that the right hates anything Obama does, even if it was something that the right previously supported in theory or practice.

One of things that made it okay for me to go to terrible places in the military was the knowledge that, no matter what, they’d do everything they could to bring me home. It doesn’t matter whether that person was a fuckup or Audie Murphy, you bring them home. Break that covenant and the all-volunteer military will find recruitment damned difficult.

Bowe Bergdahl is a forgotten hero. Obama and liberals hate him because they’re Muslim sympathizers. That’s the TRUTH

Bowe Bergdahl is a deserter terrorist who should never have come home. Obama and liberals love him because they’re Muslim sympathtizers. That’s the TRUTH

…which would be hilarious if it weren’t explicitly part of an ardent belief that everybody but them doesn’t really deserve rights.

NJ snowpocalypse aftermath:

9:30am-1:30pm Police were going up & down the streets all morning, turning their sirens off & on and using their loudspeakers to warn people to move their cars by 2pm or get towed because snowplows will need access.

1:30pm Police come into our apartment building and start knocking on everyone’s door. I go out into the hall—cop’s at the other end knocking on every door as he goes by. Everyone’s at their door or in the hallway by now, looking at each other like “WTF?” I ask the cop what’s going on. He says he’s just making sure everyone with a car knows they need to move it. (I don’t have a car, thankfully.)

2:00pm Some people still haven’t moved their cars. They’re getting towed now.

But speaking of half gov Palin, some conservatives were not impressed this weekend:

All that was good news for Republicans. But at the same time, more than a few GOP loyalists came away shaking their heads at the performance of a party star, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, whose long, rambling, and at times barely coherent speech left some wondering what role she should play in Republican politics as the 2016 race begins in earnest.

snip

First, Palin embarked on an extended stream-of-consciousness complaint about media coverage of her decision to run in a half-marathon race in Storm Lake, Iowa in 2011. She then moved on to grumbling about coverage of a recent photo of her with a supporter who had made a sign saying “Fuc_ you Michael Moore” in reaction to the left-wing moviemaker’s criticism of the film “American Sniper.” Then it was on to Palin’s objections about the social media ruckus over a picture of her six-year-old son Trig standing on the family’s Labrador Retriever.

It was all quite petty, and yet the complaining took half of Palin’s allotted time. She then proceeded to blow through her time limit with a free-association ramble on Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, the energy industry, her daughter Bristol, Margaret Thatcher, middle-class economics — “the man can only ride ya when your back is bent” — women in politics, and much more. It would be hard to say that Palin’s 35-minute talk had a theme, but she did hint that she is interested in running, although there are no indications she has taken any actual steps in that direction.

Not this shit again. A few academics say or do some silly things and all of a sudden it’s “OH NOES, WHO WILL STAND UP FOR THE ‘PO OPPRESSED WHITE MAN!”
So some theater group in Mount Holyoke doesn’t want to do the Vagina Monologs. Who gives a fuck?
And Chait’s article includes the sentence:

…others at Brandeis blocked Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a women’s-rights champion who is also a staunch critic of Islam

Yes, if bu “staunch critic” you mean “wants to start a semi-genocidal shooting war with 1.8 Billion Muslims”.

It’s safe to say that criticizing Chris Kyle or American Sniper is a most not politically correct thing to do in conservative eyes:

She then moved on to grumbling about coverage of a recent photo of her with a supporter who had made a sign saying “Fuc_ you Michael Moore” in reaction to the left-wing moviemaker’s criticism of the film “American Sniper.”

Wingnuts: we hate political correctness but criticize American Sniper and you get put in the cross-hairs.

That’s Fits News’ stock in trade. As soon as a Republican does something they disapprove of, it’s RINO!!! Remember, this is the guy who claimed to have had a long-term affair with Nikki Haley, then endorsed her for governor.

Virginia authorities arrested the driver of a commercial bus that rolled over in Virginia on Tuesday, killing four people, and charged him with reckless driving. The accident was the latest of several for the bus operator, which has been cited for dozens of violations including driver fatigue, a factor the police believe caused this crash.

The 220 pp. Virginia Roberts filing still doesn’t seem to be online, but the gossip site Radar has some excerpts:
radaronline.com

In particular, the attorneys note, “Dershowitz suggests that the aircraft flight manifests will exonerate him. … In media statements, Dershowitz has repeatedly brought up the manifests as proof of innocence.”

But they point out, “Coincidentally and remarkably, it was Dershowitz himself, acting as Epstein’s attorney, who personally collected and then provided flight manifests to the Palm Beach Police Department.”

That document dump covered just ten months: January 1, 2005, through October 17, 2005. Attorneys involved with Epstein’s civil litigation found those logs to be “grossly incomplete,” and thus subpoenaed Epstein to force him to produce all of the documents in his possession. “Epstein failed to provide any information at all,” the new court documents claim, and so the search moved on to Epstein’s pilots.

One pilot, David Rogers, was able to provide documentation for flights taken from 1997 to 2005. “This production confirmed that the flight information Dershowitz provided to police was incomplete,” the new documents state.

However, “A comparison of the flight manifests and logs confirms that the flight logs provided by Rogers were also incomplete. A cursory review of both logs reveals that together the logs produced cover only a small fraction of the flights taken and the passengers on board.”

The attorneys claim, “Multiple examples lead to the clear conclusion that all produced logs are incomplete and may well have been heavily sanitized.”

In just one example of disparity between the logs, “the flight records provided by Dershowitz for a February 3, 2005, flight from CMH (Columbus, Ohio) to PBI (Palm Beach, Florida), indicated that in addition to Jeffrey Epstein, [his assistant] Sarah Kellen, [Yugoslavian model] Nadia Marcinkova and [model agency owner] Jean Luc Brunel, on board there were three ‘females.’ The existence of these three ‘females ’ is conspicuously absent from the Rogers’ logs,” the new documents explain.

135 Tigger2  Jan 27, 2015 12:51:54pm

Looks like the Democrats decided to back off trying to scuttle the Presidents talks with Iran for a while.

Dear Mr. President:
We remain hopeful that diplomacy will succeed in reversing Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon capability, in accordance with the timeline that the P5+1 and Iran negotiating teams have set for themselves: March 24, 2015 for a political framework agreement and June 30, 2015 to conclude negotiations on the technical annexes of the comprehensive deal.

Congress has always been a partner in the shared goal of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon capability. We remain appreciative of your leadership in seeking to protect the United States, and our allies and partners, from the threat of a nuclear Iran. For more than two decades, the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. Government have worked together in a bipartisan way to implement sanctions legislation that successfully ratcheted up pressure on Iran’s nuclear program. This pressure proved to be decisive in compelling Iranian leadership to enter the latest round of nuclear negotiations in September 2013.

We remain deeply skeptical that Iran is committed to making the concessions required to demonstrate to the world that its nuclear program is exclusively peaceful by March 24 - the deadline agreed upon for a political framework agreement. Considering Iran’s history in nuclear negotiations and after two extensions of the Joint Plan of Action, we are concerned that Iran is intentionally extending the negotiations to improve its leverage at the negotiating table.

We are Democratic supporters of the Iran Nuclear Weapon Free Act of 2015 - a bill that would impose sanctions on Iran only if Iran fails to reach a comprehensive agreement by the June 30 deadline. This bill also includes monthly waivers after June 30 to provide additional negotiating flexibility. We believe that this bill, as introduced, is reasonable and pragmatic, respects the nuclear negotiating timeline, and sends a strong signal to Iran and to the international community that endless negotiations under the interim agreement are dangerous, unacceptable, and could leave Iran with a threshold nuclear weapon capability.

In acknowledgement of your concern regarding congressional action on legislation at this moment, we will not vote for this legislation on the Senate floor before March 24. After March 24, we will only vote for this legislation on the Senate floor if Iran fails to reach agreement on a political framework that addresses all parameters of a comprehensive agreement. This deadline is the critical test of Iranian intentions. We expect that your Administration will consult closely with Members of Congress in the coming months, and look forward to working with you to achieve our shared goal of reversing Iran’s ability to develop a nuclear weapon capability.

I don’t know enough about Chait to be sure, but presumably he’s painting himself as a seriously serious liberal who understands the importance of protecting the sanctity of speech above all else.

Which separates him in terms of ideology from the other type of anti-PC idiot you correctly identify here. But not, unfortunately, in terms of the effect of their priorities.

Were the Founding Fathers Alcoholics?

How do we know the founding fathers as a group drank a lot? Well, for one thing, we have records of their imbibing. In 1787, two days before they signed off on the Constitution, the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention partied at a tavern. According to the bill preserved from the evening, they drank 54 bottles of Madeira, 60 bottles of claret, eight of whiskey, 22 of porter, eight of hard cider, 12 of beer and seven bowls of alcoholic punch.

That’s more than two bottles of fruit of the vine, plus a few shots and a lot of punch and beer, for every delegate. Clearly, that’s humanly impossible. Except, you see, across the country during the Colonial era, the average American consumed many times as much beverage alcohol as contemporary Americans do. Getting drunk - but not losing control - was simply socially accepted.

American contractor David Berry was among the people killed in a terrorist attack at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli, Libya, on Tuesday, according to Cliff Taylor, chief executive officer of Crucible, a security firm where Berry was working. The FBI is expected to open an investigation into the incident, two U.S. officials told CNN. An indication to me that I hit a meal pretty well dead on is when you get down to a few bites of food and a sip of wine left and you think about which you want left on your palette last to linger for a while.

Did frozen grilled salmon steaks that were additionally seasoned by some spicy steak sauce and served with a dill/dijon mustard/sour cream/lemon juice mix that sat in the fridge for an hour. A spinach salad. And roasted potatoes that were done in olive oil along with lots of rosemary, some thyme, and a bit of dill as well.

The salmon came out well with the spicy sauce adding a touch of bite that mixed well with the cool creaminess and bite of the dill/mustard mix. The potatoes came out real nice - herbal goodness, skin a bit crunchy and the middles that perfect soft texture.

Wine was a blush table wine from the New York Finger Lakes. Not stellar, but it fit with the meal better than I thought it would.

Your food pr0n for the day. ;)

re: #270 b_sharp

Recipe please.

Hmm. A lot of ad hoc and working roughly off my ATK cookbook.

Salmon was Groton frozen grilled salmon steaks. They got a 400 F oven for about 20 minutes with some extra ground pepper and a little bit of sauce spread on top. (Something spicy like Pic-a-Pepper would work, I was using something called Werewolf Sauce from a company called Devil’s Breath Chile Co.) Checked for a 165 F internal temp before serving. (These things are relatively thin and rectangles - they cook fairly quickly and ooze white fish protein.)

Additional salmon topping was 2 tbsp sour cream, 1 tbsp dijon mustard, 1 tsp lemon juice, a bit of salt, and at least a couple tbsp of minced fresh dill. Mixed together with a spoon and put in the fridge for the flavors to blend for an hour or so.

Potatoes were 4-5 white potatoes cut into eighths. Salted and then rubbed with a mix of olive oil and minced herbs (lots and lots of rosemary, but also thyme and dill). They were put in a tightly covered roasting pan skin side up for 30 minutes at 425 F. Then uncovered for 15 minutes. Then carefully flipped so that another side would brown and cooked another 10 minutes. Skin gets a bit crinkly then and develops a bit of crunch.

I get to see how this stuff reheats as leftovers tomorrow.

re: #269 Feline Fearless Leader

Your food pr0n for the day. ;)
(No pictures cause I ate it first not thinking it would turn out that good.)

Nice. Yup, now I’m hungry.

I don’t expect miracles but, if the elite political press is really going to pump Scott Walker for president of the United States, they should at least mention from time to time that he never has held a political office that was not infested with cheap cronyism, criminal and otherwise, and that he never has run a campaign that was not shot through with cheap corruption, criminal and otherwise. The cronies are expected to take the fall when, as it inevitably does, the law comes calling. This should be something of a drawback for him as a candidate. It likely will not be.

No, but I’ve seen my share of vultures going after roadkill around here, just like the aforementioned are going after voters.

Saw some African vultures going up inside a dead male lion from the anus once, maybe I’ll find and share the video; grotesque, but once you see it you understand vulture shoulders-up anatomy.

oh my goodness…I need to schedule a trip to Philly so I can be invited to dinner at your place.

It was a bit of an experiment with the Groton frozen salmon. A little unappetizing looking, but also a bit cheaper than buying a fresh full salmon steak in the meat department. Also got to play with spicing/sides to use the next time I make these, or get that good piece of salmon to cook.

I also want to nail down a good roasted potatoes recipe. Have a better idea what kind of potatoes to use now, and since I grow my own rosemary and thyme I have a decent supply of that on-hand. And I think I can tweak this version a bit to also garlic it up as well.

re: #280 Feline Fearless Leader

Thank you.

Cavemen invented the “allow the women to go through the entrance first” courtesy as a way to check if there were sabre-tooth cats lurking outside the cave.

Trader Joe’s has a “salmon burger” that is sort of a round patty with roughly the same thickness. Cooks up in about the same time and manner. I usually keep these around since they can be in the freezer for a while and they’re healthier than eating fish that is breaded and frozen.

Still, the more “modern” we become, the more hazardous these storms can be and the harder it can be to rescue those who get stranded. People are safe in their homes for the most part, and other than a 17 yr old slamming into a utility pole on a rubber tube on LI, no loss of life reported, and there seems to be much less property damage due to the type of snow. Those who needed to be out to clear the roads and look out for the safety of others did their jobs. But business is still complaining about $1B being lost in commerce. Suck it up, greed merchants.

“Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by enemy forces in Afghanistan for five years, will likely be charged with desertion, senior defense officials tell NBC News.

“The officials point out that Bergdahl will likely face a lesser charge of desertion described in the Uniform Code of Military Justice as leaving a post to avoid duty or shirk an important assignment, based on his actions when he left a remote outpost in June 2009.

“Those charges carry a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison upon conviction, but sources tell NBC News the Army is considering crediting Bergdahl for the 5 years he spent in captivity and be given the opportunity to avoid prosecution by leaving the Army with a “less than honorable discharge.” More
