Right Wingers Are Shrieking About New Daily Show Host Trevor Noah Because of Course

It’s all part of the grand leftist agenda to control all media everywhere, see?
Media • Views: 34,566

It’s getting harder and harder to check in on right-wing “news” sites, just to see what the topics of conversation are. I’ve long felt that one of the biggest threats to our democracy is that educated people insulate themselves in an echo chamber where they only hear thoughts and opinions that they already agree with. So I try to walk the talk, and at least listen to what conservatives have to say about current events.

I refer to it as my “ritualistic mortification of the flesh,” as it often involves bonking my head against the desk at the sheer stupid projection, martyr complex, narrow-minded bigotry, unquestioning acceptance of anger as a guiding theology, etc.

So when I saw that there was a reaction to the choice of Trevor Noah as host of the Daily Show, I wondered if there was something that was perhaps snarky, funny, maybe a bit transgressive in mocking the foibles of a show that mocks foibles.

“Sacred control of the culture.” Awww. Did those big meanies at the TV networks turn down your obviously brilliant script ideas once upon a time, Ricky?

I ain’t gonna give Rick any more linklove than necessary. It was bad enough to link to Twitch, above. But if you must, check it out. He purports to construct a takedown of the Daily Show and all us liberal zombies marching in lockstep. Which, if it was actually intellectually honest, might be interesting. But does this accomplish anything?

Nope. Same old standard tropes of “liberals hate America and conspire to control all because they are evil and stupid and at the same time brilliant and conniving.”

Also: who or what is the opportunistic leech-god? Does this exist anywhere other than in the peyote nightmares of someone who reads bad religious sci-fi like the “Left Behind” series?

So, TheRickWilson has posted at least 22 tweets about this important topic? /

Seems a little unhinged.

2 GlutenFreeJesus  Apr 1, 2015 11:49:18am

Liberals want to control all by pushing for equality for everyone, and allowing a woman to choose what she wants to do with her own body. Conservatives want to keep minorities as second class citizens, and women as slaves. because freedom.

What is it with the newest brand of media wingnuts?

I’m going to have to come up with a few new words to describe the right wing (and will get me banned from tv/radio) /ghost of George Carlin

California Imposes Unprecedented Statewide Water Restrictions

In a historic move, California is ordering water use to be slashed by 25 percent across the state to deal with a drought that just won’t quit.

With more than 98 percent of the state suffering from a drought that has stretched into its fourth year, Governor Jerry Brown issued an executive order from the mostly snow-bare Phillips Station in the Sierra Nevada mountains — an area that would usually have snow pack more than 66 inches deep at this time of year.

“Today we are standing on dry grass where there should be five feet of snow. This historic drought demands unprecedented action,” Brown said in a statement. “Therefore, I’m issuing an executive order mandating substantial water reductions across our state. As Californians, we must pull together and save water in every way possible.”

Similar measures were considered during California’s 1970s drought but were never implemented, according to the governor’s office.

Either CCJ really is that big a fucking idiot or he’s planning the con of the century and plans to use his website and twitter feed as his alibi claiming no one as terminally incompetent as him would ever be able to pull off any successful endeavor.

You seem to be implying that he is setting up an insanity defense in advance of doing something.

I didn’t love some of his Trevor’s jokes, but I’m willing to give him pass. I will reconsider if he becomes the 2nd half white/half black African to run for president of the United States.

Another day, another conservative whinefest. I’m interesting in seeing how Trevor Noah does. I hadn’t heard of Jon Stewart either and he ended up becoming so iconic at TDS that a lot of people forget that Jon was the second host of the show but Jon is the one who put it on the map.

That twitterer is blind. Only in the most superficial way does Chuck look like Will Rahn. Though he is no great prize, Rahn has fairly nice features. The only resemblance is the red hair, beard and glasses.

I viewed at work. It was worth it for the Dick Pizza.

27 Backwoods_Sleuth  Apr 1, 2015 12:25:42pm

O’Connor said he’s never been asked to cater a wedding, and that the response was hypothetical in response to questions posed by the news crew.

“It’s hard to speak when things get taken so out of context and this thing goes sky high and just blows everything up,” he said. “I’ve got a family to think about, too.”

O’Connor also said that he had never been faced with a conflict with his religious beliefs in his line of work.

“I mean, we don’t believe in murder. I also don’t believe in abortion,” he said when asked about other events he would feel conflicted about providing services for. When asked about pizza for weddings with divorced couples, O’Connor paused.

“You know, that’s something that I don’t have figured out in my own mind yet,” he said. “Because I’m divorced. So that’s something I don’t have figured out.”

Selective “christian family values” in action…

You mean, you think that the Daily Show choosing a guy who is a combo of mixed-race and damnfurriner is enough to make Redneckistan go into total freakout mode? That their objections to Trevor aren’t all about their sudden sensitivity to jokes about women or Jews?

Impoffibubble!

That, or it’s a cynical attempt to try to gin up some kind of controversy around a popular TV show that exposes them for the intellectually vacant frauds that they are.

Nah. Couldn’t be.
