Dropped off an updated application at my Pizza Hut job so I can do delivery driving as well as add a third day a week there. The tips will be helpful…

Any Bay Area Lizards might choose to note, the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles has an exhibit going on right now about Bedouin textiles, which was very interesting to see last night.

Also a short exhibit on glass and textiles (there’s a glass art conference in town right now, apparently) which had some glorious pieces involving fused glass chips done as quilt squares. I may need to track down the artist on those.

Okay this is just weird. I was able to paste in ww’s goat tweet and it displayed with no problem (I’ve removed it and replaced it with another), but when I try to paste this one, it won’t work. Could it be because it starts with a hashtag? It’s the only thing I can see that might be interpreted strangely.

I got a layoff notice this week. Unless the MN governor and legislature can agree on some budgeting bills by the end of the month, all non-essential state employees will be laid off and MN will shut down on July 1.

From what I hear, the chances of an actual shutdown are near zero. Nobody wants this to happen and, unlike Kansas, MN is sitting on a nearly two billion dollar surplus, so most of the arguing is over where the extra money gets spent or refunded.

In the 15 years that I’ve worked for the state, I’ve been for-real laid off once (after Jesse Ventura pissed off the legislature so bad that they cut all the funding to the Admin department), I’ve been out on strike for two weeks, I’ve been through one state shutdown that lasted three weeks, and I know there was one other near-shutdown that only got averted on the last day. I should know this routine by now but getting another layoff notice is annoying. I hope cooler heads prevail.

I think Chuck is in rehab or something. Even without Twitter it’s hard to see him being this silent for this long. Knutsen hasn’t posted anything for him in days either.

So yeah, he’s totally probably in rehab. If so, good for him getting the help he needs with his substance abuse problems. Maybe when he rejoins the world he’ll be slightly less of a gargantuan douche, which frankly means he’ll still be a world record level douche.

People who abuse animals often go on to abuse human beings. In this case, the progression was direct and literal. They put the kitty in the washer then went straight to kicking the little boy in the carpet. Btw, if you haven’t seen this video, you probably don’t need to. The Russian police have seen it and I suspect they will teach the perps all they need to know about being kicked around and run through the wringer.

Fifty years ago, Gene Roddenberry’s idea of a multicultural cast for Star Trek was absolutely visionary, decades ahead of its time. It was more than a little controversial too. Today, it is pretty much the norm in fiction as well as real life and the critics and naysayers are lost in the refuse of history.

I remember watching a British children’s TV series made for an international audience and noting that only two of the seven or eight children in it were white.

Then I realized that seen globally, it is a fairly representative portrayal of the world’s children today.

I cannot thank Charles enough for the image library. This is where my only photos reside.

My 8yr-old and her 10yr-old brother each had a small one in Korea, on a plate. They ate them—it was important.

I am always so nervous before watching a race. I just want every horse and rider to be safe. But when I saw that stride, and his ears forward, positive, relaxed bounding, I was sure he had it! YAY!

There was an accident at Ruidoso Grounds today. Not even racing, just training.

That is unreal. All you employees are essential so you have to come in, but we’re not going to pay you. I wonder if they’ll try to fire people who say ‘fuck that shit’? What a mess for the employees. Wow.

[wishfulthinking] Either that or the arrest warrant from Mississippi finally got served and he’s cooling his dumb ass in a jail cell awaiting extradition.[/wishfulthinking]

I have an update on Lubbock Power and Light’s draconian collection policies. They don’t give four weeks from the due date to pay, as I said last time. It is four weeks from the BILLING date. Residential customers have 9 days from the billing date to pay. They can call and get an additional 21 day extension, then it’s lights out and water off, no exceptions EVER. Obviously, none of this applies to business or corporate customers, except that a small business pays the same basic service fee as a huge corporation.

A Baptist asshole I talked to about this said he was fine with this policy because people will become dependent if you coddle them. Another one told me that it’s an employee’s own fault if failure to pay due wages puts the employee in a financial bind, since the employee should have planned better.

We need a revolution in this country. I won’t be happy until I see these soul-dead greed cultists living under bridges and begging for crumbs outside the new union headquarters.

130 Justanotherhuman  Jun 6, 2015 5:16:51pm

re: #129 Shiplord Kirel

Sounds like the same kind of billing policy Southern Bell used to have when I had a regular landline. Two weeks to pay, though, and you never got the bill until 2 wks after the billing date. Slow to get them out and then you had to hurry up and get it paid. And that was the advance bill, not what you had used. They would put any long distance calls from the previous month on that bill, so they would be the only service you had actually used.

131 Justanotherhuman  Jun 6, 2015 5:19:53pm

re: #129 Shiplord Kirel

I don’t suppose you mentioned that people usually don’t get paid right away for the work they have done? It usually takes payroll at least a week to get checks ready, and that’s usually for 2 weeks at a time.

Hard to plan very much ahead when you’re not making the big bucks.

132 Shiplord Kirel  Jun 6, 2015 5:24:57pm

I’m seriously thinking about selling the conspiracy compound and getting the fuck out of Texas. The place is run by thieves and cutthroat robber barons who owe their power to deeply ingrained cultural practices, especially the obsessive blame and shame doctrines of the prevailing Baptist and other fundamentalist superstitions. I’ll move back when it turns blue, as it will, and join the fun as we hold the thieves and liars to account.

Fuckin’ nice: by not furloughing the employees they also prevent them from collecting UI.

Another example of Republican governance being very similar to being seasick and having lockjaw at the same time.

Did I mention I hate The Klown Car Realty Co that’s supposedly “managing” this place and doing a fuck-all job of it?

That’s what she thinks.

More derangement at Free Republic. This is what we are up against in trying to get the thieves and grifters out of power.

When The Wicked Rule A Nation

None of us would have guessed that America would be a modern Sodom and Gomorrah in these final days of history. We knew that Obama was a Marxist/Socialist, and that was disturbing enough. We knew that he had close ties with Planned Parenthood, and that his voting record in the Senate was termed “left” of Ted Kennedy. That spoke volumes.

I believe that America will be utterly destroyed or conquered by a foe. If Yellowstone blows, then half of our country will be devastated. If the presence of ISIS is as great as is being reported, we will begin to see mass murders and beheadings. Jade Helm 15, which is a “tactical exercise” for the military in seven states, just might be a drill on instating Martial Law.

If Putin paid more than twenty bucks to get this posted, he was ripped off.

So if Yellowstone blows, can I take credit for it? After all, I do live in Twin Falls, Idaho, 83301, just a stone throw away. I support the LGBT community and SSM. Maybe it’s gods way of getting me.
