Did I hear the all the images New Horizons is taking will take months to download?
If that is so, I wonder how the images they are showing fall in the order of images taken. Are they stored on some kind of hard drive and NASA can go through and take one or two out of sequence?
Just the fact they can communicate with something like this probe still blows my mind. Having it send down images is icing on the cake.
I still get light headed when I think of all the rapid changes in science and technologies since WW2.

Keep in mind that until Eric Rudolph decided to detonate a bomb in Centennial Park at the 1996 Olympic Games, his terroristic actions of firebombing women’s clinics and bars catering to LGBTs were actually celebrated and funded by the religious right. The reason he was able to evade law enforcement as long as he did was because he was provided money and shelter by those who are actually considered mainstream groups today. The same groups who were posting names, home addresses, phone numbers, and make/model/license plates of vehicles used by providers, - those groups are still around today, and still very active.

ADL:
Rudolph is charged in four bombings committed over a span of eighteen months. On July 27, 1996, he is alleged to have bombed Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Georgia. On January 27, 1997, authorities believe he bombed the Atlanta Northside Family Planning Services; a month later, the Otherside Lounge, a lesbian bar, also in Atlanta, was bombed. This bombing was followed by a letter sent to Atlanta media organizations railing against abortion clinics and homosexuality and claiming responsibility for the bombing by the “Army of God.” It concluded with the phrase “Death to the New World Order,” popularized by Michigan militia figure Mark Koernke.
On January 29, 1998, Rudolph allegedly used a radio-controlled nail bomb at the New Woman All Women Health Care Centre in Birmingham, Alabama. These four terrorist acts killed a mother attending the Olympics and an off-duty police officer (and caused a fatal heart attack in a third person), while injuring over a hundred more - some severely.

Who?
Why you piece of filth and excrement (note that I do not say human excrement because a Jew hating mother fucker such as yourself is not a human) you sound like you are Pat Buchanan’s bastard offspring. Why don’t you have the guts and say that the Jews deliberately attacked an American ship killing 34 sailors? The fact that 6 investigations (4 being from the U.S. Navy) came to the conclusion that it was a case of misidentification during a time of combat is just an unimportant matter I suppose. Also I guess you never heard of the U.S.S. Stark incident (May 17, 1987) when an Iraqi jet attacked an American ship killing 37 sailors (which was also said to be one of misidentification). Needless to say the Iran Air Flight 655 incident (July 3, 1988) where the U.S.S. Vincennes shot down a passenger plane killing 265 people is not part of your frame of reference either. As for the Israelis being “welfare” recipients, you clearly have your fat head up your fat ass. Israel gets military credits which it uses to purchase American equipment right here in the good old USA.
WTF do the Stark and Vincennes have to do with anything?
Your beloved Iran is a terrorist nation which kills homosexuals, non Muslims, and stones women to death i.e. (a perfect place for a girlie-man such as yourself to live) as well as being a rogue nation responsible for killing couple of hundred Marines in Beirut in 1983, taking our embassy personnel hostage in 1979 in Tehran, and was a major player in the deaths of our young men in Iraq, as well as being the number one supporter of terrorism.
Apparently if you don’t want to go to war with someone, you LUUUURRVV them. Binary thinking again.
Benjamin Netanyahu is twice the man your formerly coke sniffing Pretender-in-Chief will ever be and frankly since you are so sanguine about the Jewish State being nuked I hope you fucking drop dead way before that ever happens, you sexually incompetent, piece of shit.

re: #137 Blind Frog Belly White
His reference to the Stark and the Vincennes actually make sense, since he’s (rightly) claiming that Iraq didn’t intend to attack the Stark, and the Vincennes didn’t intend to shoot down an Iranian civilian airliner, just as Israel didn’t intend to attack a US vessel when it hit the Liberty.
But then he lost me with the drivel about Netanyahu being more of a man than our “coke sniffing” president, and the lunatic paranoia about Israel being nuked.
Earth to the “IZREAL IZ GONNA ASPLODE!!!11” crowd: North Korea hasn’t nuked the south. Pakistan hasn’t nuked India. Aside from the small detail that Iran doesn’t have a bomb, what makes anyone think they would behave any more irrationally with the bomb than Kim Jong Un or the country that sheltered bin Laden for a decade?

I saw that on FB and damned near crapped my drawers till I saw the byline. Friggin’ Borowitz! Someday reality will lap his satire, I fear.
I know. I always think of Palin as the least angry person in the room. //
Apparently, tonight that’s the truth.

I’ma tell Mrs. FBW you said that. She’s like a Dryer Ball Evangelist. One year, that’s what she gave all her friends for Christmas.
Despite some hiccups along the way, I had a great time at AnthroCon again.
Looking forward to next year’s!
I’ve turned in my term grades, so my official teaching duties are over for now. But I have a stack of writing contest entries to read and evaluate by Friday. I’ve read seven so far, and three of those plagiarized articles on the Internet. Now, I feel I’ll need to test all of them for plagiarism.
Shit.
Great way to spend the first week of my summer vacation.

Wife insists I throw some kind of little stinking parchment in with the towels when I do them.
Another thing about Iran: every claim that can (correctly) be made about Iran’s human rights record or its support for groups like Hezbollah can doubly be applied to our “ally” Saudi Arabia. And one huge difference between the two is that we can actually count on Iran to fight ISIS with sincerity. I wouldn’t trust the Saudi royal family in a fight against ISIS under any circumstances.

Hmm. What’s the Chi-Coms motivation? Like I said, weird.

It’s likely that at least part of the Saudi royal family is funding ISIS.

Turn them inside out to dry. Fold em warm and you never have to iron them.

What gets me is that it’s for a writing contest, so the students should expect their prose will get extra attention. The Chinese faculty have already run the essays through a computer scoring app, but this app obviously doesn’t check for plagiarism.
In some defense of the students, they just don’t know any better. The Western academic concept of “plagiarism = very bad” really is not stressed in Chinese universities until senior thesis time rolls around. Then teachers and students both get frustrated, because the teachers have to enforce rules they never taught and students have to suddenly learn rules no one bothered to teach them in the previous three years of university.
They get almost zero English composition learning in middle school, except to prepare for the college entrance exam.
Came home to find that Mrs. FBW was off at a lecture on bats and bat rescue. The woman loves bats! And Giraffes. And Octopi. And bugs. And Gilbert and Sullivan. And puns.

Huh. Just noticed that Dire Straits posted the exact same comment to John_Manyjars in this thread and the Iran thread downstairs.

What are the odds that Dire Straits and Manyjars are the same person? Ya think either one have enough brainpower to cook up a scheme that complicated?
Weird part is that before tonight’s spewage, Dire Straits’ previous postings were pretty benign in nature. About the most outspoken he(?) got was taking Snowden’s Russian escapades to task about a year and a half ago. Not really much that would trigger any alarms for me at least.

I must protest the substandard trolls on this blog.
No wit, no verve, just mind-numbing, low grade insults to personal appearance. And the responses are getting shorter and shorter, as if he had been building all this up for a long time, savoring the thought of our quailing before his rapier-like wit, but then he shot his wad and has nothing left to say.
At this point, he’s probably hoping he’ll be banned, because he’s all out of anything to say, but if he just stops, it’ll be obvious.

I guess someone REALLY didn’t like the nuke deal with Iran. Tough shit, too fucking bad for you. We can always bomb Iran or fight a war with them later, so that should keep your armchair warrior erection stiff for another 25 years.
Enough already with the anti-semite charge against all non-Likud supporting Americans. It’s bullshit, and you either know that or are just plain hysterical.
What you want apparently are not genuine supporters of Israel, but instead people who will unquestioningly agree with you on all matters regarding Israel. Americans don’t reflexively and unquestioningly agree with the governments of ANY nation, including Israel. And that’s exactly the way it should be. Again, tough shit if you don’t like it.

Nooo. Dryer sheets coat your towels with something that reduces the drying effectiveness. For towels add a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.
