The Fox News (actually Fox Business) circus is about to begin! As usual, the festivities will open with a humiliating “also-ran” debate featuring the candidates with poll numbers so dismal they don’t rate a spot in the prime time debate: Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.

You can watch the debate live over the web here, and they say you don’t need to have a cable TV account.

Christie’s polling is so bad….

how bad is it?

Attending the kid’s table debate is a step up from going back to NJ where polled voters say he should just go away.

well, if you count children, stay at home parents, and retired people, you can probably get to 90 million “unemployed”. As for anemic job growth, that’s kind of what happens when you have 5% unemployment, or as they used to call it in the 1990s “full employment.”

6+ years of constant job growth. Unemployment rates dropping below the pre recession levels. U3 and U6 rates.

But these folks continue with the lie that the rate is many times higher, even though there’s no actual proof that this is the case.

The only thing that leans towards the rate being insufficient is that the labor participation rate has started to fall off, but that’s a function of the fact that Baby Boomers are starting to retire from the workforce, which means that it has nothing to do with the economy but demographics. (I know, too big a word concept for the GOP to digest).

The number of people they’re calling “unemployed” is everyone over 16 who isn’t currently employed. Full time students, stay at home moms, retirees, the disabled, etc. Mind you, we all knew this was coming, since we Baby Boomers weren’t planning on working forever. My siblings and I span the core of the Boom - 1945-1957 - and already 1/3 of us are retired.

Let me understand this. I was a stay at home mom, married to the same man for 38 years now. I raised my kids, looked after my mother in her final years, still do the housework, much of the yard work and so forth, and the Republicans want to force me to go get a job at the age of 62?
