QAnon Has 19 Candidates Running in 2022
The QAnon wing of the Republican Party continues to grow and there are now at least 19 Q-backing GOP candidates competing for House and Senate seats in the 2022 midterms. Based on new polling, one in five Americans believe at least one of the main three QAnon conspiracy theories. One of these theories is that the US government, media, and financial institutions “are controlled by a group of Satan-worshipping pedophiles who run a global child sex trafficking operation.” (Fifteen percent of Americans hold that viewpoint.) Twenty percent agree with the statement: “there is a storm coming soon that will sweep away the elites in power and restore the rightful leaders.” And 15% agree that “because things have gotten so far off track, true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country.” If these QAnon messages are infiltrating a chunk of the right-wing base, it makes perfect sense that it would attract a new wave of candidates who want to represent them in the House and Senate.

In 2020, a total of 97 QAnon-supporting or QAnon-aligned candidates ran for Congress, according to Media Matters. Two candidates out of those 97 went on to win their races: Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. With 18 months remaining before the midterm elections, the total number of QAnon-supporting candidates could easily surpass the 2020 showing. Perhaps some or many of them will actually win. The 2022 midterms will be yet another referendum on Trump and Trumpism but it will also be a test as to whether this Q wing can go on to gain legitimacy within the Republican Party. It’s possible that placating to these fringe candidates will alienate the centrists in the party and make it harder for the GOP to win back the House and Senate in 2022. However, these centrist types could also just accept it as they did with Trump. These next couple of years will be crucial in shaping the long term prospects of the Republican Party

Mr. Herbster is a billionaire agribusiness owner in SE Nebraska. He is the GQP’s principal candidate right now for state governor.

Tax evasion seems right on brand for their party.

FALLS CITY, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster lives most of his time in the state at a $1.5 million condominium on the Omaha riverfront or at a $300,000 home in his native Falls City.

He spent much of the past couple of years flying in chartered planes with campaign surrogates and family members of former President Donald Trump. He’s donated millions to political candidates.

He runs agribusinesses in several states, including Conklin Co., in Minnesota and Missouri, and Herbster Angus Farms in Nebraska. He owns a $500,000 “guest home” in Kansas City.

He and some of his companies also have a history of paying property taxes late - sometimes years late. Here’s what 3 News Now Investigators found in a quarter-century of property records from six states:

The Black family that had a beach club in Manhattan Beach CA, and it was taken by the city because they didn’t want all those Black people coming around….

They’re getting the land back.

It’s doable because the City never actually built anything on it, or sold it for residential and/or commercial development. The City has retained ownership, and leased it to the State as a staging ground for Lifeguards. (cities don’t own beaches, even if they name them. Cities may own parking lots adjacent to the beaches, but the beaches themselves are State property. Anything up to 100 ft above the high-tide line is open to the public. There’s a whole state agency (the Coastal Commission) to enforce that.

If you want the beach in front of your house to be private… the closest you can get to that is block some of the access points from PCH. But if people want to walk there from a few miles up the Coast, you have to allow it.

Salt Lake City School Board member now charged with object rape of a child (Deseret News, today)

A Salt Lake City School Board member accused of possessing child pornography is now also accused of sexually abusing a child.

Joel-Lehi Organista, 29, of Salt Lake City, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court by the Utah Attorney General’s Office with object rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor, both first-degree felonies. He was also charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and prosecutors say they anticipate additional charges being filed.

Organista was elected to the Salt Lake City School District’s Board of Education in November. On Thursday, hours after his arrest, board members called for his immediate resignation. As of early Friday afternoon, the district had not heard from Organista. He is still believed to be in the Salt Lake County Jail.

An older friend of mine while I was in college literally started turning green in medical distress while we were playing some kind of board or card game, and I ended up driving him to the emergency room. He had a bypass operation (triple IIRC) a few days later.
