It’s time to start treating McCarthy like your garden variety abusive man.
Men who don’t know how to communicate with women often turn to violence. Also, @GOPleader sucks at his job and is insecure as fuck…another trigger for emotionally underdeveloped people.

Dear @GOPLeader McCarthy: Don’t you think America has had enough political violence? You should never be encouraging or threatening or joking about causing violence to anyone, including the Speaker of the House. You need to apologize for your statement, or resign. https://t.co/jdP2bcmr5c

The sad thing is this will get downplayed by the media because McCarthy is Republican leadership and untouchable. Hopefully the calls for him to resign will be strong enough and long enough to clip his wings for a few weeks while the committee collects evidence against his party for Jan 6.

So of course Twitter is pushing this story from the Telegraph:
Future president? Kamala Harris now ‘underwater’ as sinking popularity alarms Democrats
Kamala Harris has become the most unpopular US vice president six months into an administration since at least the 1970s, according to polls.
So let’s think about this for a second….
How does a VP get either “popular” or “unpopular”, when she is mostly invisible?

The CDC has the power to extend the eviction moratorium. As they double down on masks, why wouldn’t they extend the moratorium in light of delta variant?

It is a moral imperative to keep people from being put out in the street which also contributes to the public health emergency.

Speaking of Politico bullshit—their little hagiography about Andrew Giuliani includes these glowing descriptions of the lad’s political history:
While he spent four years as an adviser to Donald Trump (and, by one measure, the former president’s most frequent golf companion), his only previous run for office entailed a brief flirtation with a New York City mayoral campaign…
So I guess saying you might run for an office counts as “a previous run for office” even if you never actually, you know, fucking run for office.
Before this year, Giuliani’s most prominent appearance in New York politics came when he was just 7 and took the mayoral oath of office along with his father — a scene-stealing performance that earned him a Chris Farley portrayal on Saturday Night Live. Now 35, Giuliani’s work since has included the pursuit of a career in golf and a job in the White House, with a portfolio that included managing Trump’s interactions with sports teams.
His “portfolio”—is that what we’re calling it now?

The men’s rugby team does a haka before the match, to psyche out the opposition. The last time Scotland played NZ at home what the visitors didn’t know was that the Scots team had a claidheamh-mòr in the dressing-room. Yes. I believe it was done before battle but also at other important events. The animated expressions, wide eyes, tongue sticking out, all meant to invoke fear in your enemy. But there’s a touch of comedy and huge dollup of humanity in all those expressions and throaty exhaltations, all done in unision with a group. The enemy is not the enemy: the enemy is disunity. Haka is a joyous and emphatic song of unity. It transcends language.

I got a spice rub from the guy up the street who sells smoked meats (along with a pile of brisket, turkey, and pulled pork). Rubbed that into a rack of pork spare ribs, throw them on the gas for around 2 hours at ~300 degrees. Juicy, savory, taste like “more”.

I personally love the “fall off the bone” ribs. But my son is the true lover of ribs and he likes it a bit clingy. So that’s how I do it now. Not in the slow cooker, but in the oven (we can’t grill or smoke in our condo complex since it’s in the midst of a forest and the insurance company doesn’t approve).

If I don’t grill them, I do them in the oven. I like my ribs to have a bit of bite to them, but they can’t be dry. Dry ribs are the worst, it’s like eating shoe leather. Typically, in the oven, I bake a rack at 250 degrees for up to 3 hours.
I have a thermometer with a lead that I can put into the meat and stick it on the grill/in the oven, and have the readout going all the time without having to open the door. Makes it very easy to hit a target temperature.

If I don’t grill them, I do them in the oven. I like my ribs to have a bit of bite to them, but they can’t be dry. Dry ribs are the worst, it’s like eating shoe leather. Typically, in the oven, I bake a rack at 250 degrees for up to 3 hours.
Yes, that’s always my greatest fear. You can’t really rescue dry ribs.

Steve Schmidt has been on quite a tear today. And is taking no prisoners.
I’d like to make a couple of points with regard to the👇discussion below. @JohnJHarwood is one of the best journalists and commentators in America and I think it is important to delve deeply into @GOPLeader McCarthy’s violent fantasy around assaulting an 81 year old woman, https://t.co/Bnm9nTmsRP

for what it is, an embrace of violence for the purposes of political power. Kevin McCarthy shouldn’t be given the benefit of the doubt. He is one of the greatest bad faith actors to ever hold political power in this country, he is manifestly unfit at a moral level as he has

Just received a message from daughter. The vaccinated mother of one of her housemates has just tested positive for Covid after feeling unwell for about a week. Said housemate visits mother every weekend. The remainder of my daughter’s household are in the process of scheduling their own tests and daughter is now self-isolating.

I have a thermometer with a lead that I can put into the meat and stick it on the grill/in the oven, and have the readout going all the time without having to open the door. Makes it very easy to hit a target temperature.
Do you find the “recommended” temperatures to be right? I get mixed results when I tried the regular thermometers. And forget the pop out things on turkeys.

I usually go to the Interwebs and find out what temperatures other people cook things to. I do not trust any of the recommended temperatures on either this thermometer, or my instant-read thermometer.

For those wondering why Shaun King might have deleted his Twitter account, it’s probably because he’s currently being sued for slander/defamation by a former prosecutor for alleged lies he posted on his social media about the guy.
I wrote about it.https://t.co/7f1bW9L0sP— Ernest Owens (@MrErnestOwens) July 18, 2021
I was working on a drop in high profile high budget project on another island. Working on a Saturday, I left the jobsite to pick my Wife Unit up at the airport for us to spend Sunday together on Maui. From the time I left the job to the airport I picked up a cough. Took a test Sunday, came back negative on Tuesday. I’ve had an annoying cough the whole time and I’ve enjoyed people giving me stink eye every time I coughed all Phlegm Boy. Took another test when I came back, negative too. Second time I’ve been sick since COVID. Weird.
It is currently 83F in Rockwall. Thunder all around us but no rain right now. 24 hours ago it was around 100F.

Make no mistake. The terrorists would’ve murdered Pelosi on January 6 if they had gotten to her, and Qevin McQarthy is signaling them that he’s with them.

Yep. The repairs/upgrades continue. Main electrical power to the vehicle has been pretty much restored. Power generation and storage modules were not damaged so that is a plus. One more cable to be replaced and then I can start repairs/updates on the secondary systems. Weather hasn’t been cooperative to be outside of the Star Dock without shielding for those, so, I’m doing prep work remotely instead.
Get used to it Lizards. I’ve turned this project into a spaced based game to add some fun to it. No. there will not be anymore pages. They sucked the fun out of it.

and yet kids did not die from this, and they did not irradiate themselves or others. We don’t sell these anymore because of litigation—not because they weren’t enormous fun, while motivating thousands of kids to become physicists and chemists, instead of the bullshit color-change experiments kids do now in their litigation-free chemistry sets that teach nothing of any value and have no element of interest in them.
