A Collection of Right-Wing Radio Hosts Dead of COVID

This list will no doubt grow in the weeks and months ahead
Media • Views: 40,885

Yes, every death is a tragedy, and Meditation 17 by John Donne, which states “no man is an island” is still as true today as the day it was written.

However.

“As I was, so are you now. As I am now, so shall you be…”

The pattern that is starting to emerge here is at the very least, worthy of closer examination. That is:

  1. Right-wing radio host goes all-in on fanatical Trump support
  2. Said host parrots that COVID-19 is a "hoax"
  3. Problem: why would you need a vaccine for a hoax?
  4. Solution: the vaccine is worse than COVID!
  5. Radio demagogue screeches this idiocy daily to dim-witted listeners
  6. Contracts COVID
  7. Reality of full-body pain & agony of slow strangulation
  8. Repents of being a gullible idiot who led his listeners to death
  9. Radio host dies

Let’s check in on the current body count, shall we?

1. Marc Bernier, was a truly Awful Person.

… and finally, his last & pinned Tweet, comparing getting vaccinated to Nazi Gas Chambers

Current Status:

Bernier was off the air as of Monday, August 2, stricken with Covid-19 at home. Sean Hannity’s syndicated show was airing in his place. On Saturday, August 8th, Bernier was hospitalized, according to the WNDB station manager, who described Bernier as “anti-vaccine.” And that appears to be the last word on his status:

Dick Farrel, right-wing screamer & Newsmax host:

Went all-in for Trump:

Drank the Kool-Aid

Current Status:

Phil Valentine was a performatively awful person:

Mocked the vaccine:

And then:

Mr. Valentine scoffed at the need for vaccines, writing on his blog that his chances of dying from the virus, should he become infected, were “way less than one percent.”

He announced his Covid-19 diagnosis on July 11 and pledged to return to his show within a day or two.

“Unfortunately for the haters out there, it looks like I’m going to make it,” he wrote. “Interesting experience. I’ll have to fill you in when I come back on the air. I’m hoping that will be tomorrow, but I may take a day off just as a precaution.”

Less than two weeks later, his radio station, 99.7 WTN, announced that the Nashville host was hospitalized “in very serious condition, suffering from Covid pneumonia.” The statement said Mr. Valentine had had a change of heart and urged others to get a vaccine.

Current status:

If you lied about Covid, profited from lying about Covid, and then died from Covid, as far as I’m concerned you being dead is a valuable public health service.

It probably won’t penetrate, but I’ve tried pointing out to Covidiots that lots of prominent anti-vaxxers are dying of covid, but so far I’m aware of only one prominent vaccinated person dying of Covid (former Ky legislator Brent Yonts), and none have been killed by the vaccines.

About the antivaxxer that came home from the hospital to find her husband, who was antivax, dead; they had dogs that were on the verge of death due to lack of water.

She also has a funding plea for new furniture.

With the Taliban growing more violent and adding checkpoints near Kabul’s airport, an all-volunteer group of American veterans of the Afghan war launched a final daring mission on Wednesday night dubbed the “Pineapple Express” to shepherd hundreds of at-risk Afghan elite forces and their families to safety, members of the group told ABC News.

Moving after nightfall in near-pitch black darkness and extremely dangerous conditions, the group said it worked unofficially in tandem with the United States military and U.S. embassy to move people, sometimes one person at a time, or in pairs, but rarely more than a small bunch, inside the wire of the U.S. military-controlled side of Hamid Karzai International Airport.

If you think god will protect you from covid, but refuse to get vaccinated, you are dumber than a bag of hammers and get what you deserve.

If you think that god will protect you because you’re taking some drug meant for livestock and not a vaccine because you don’t know what is in the vaccine, you get what you deserve.

And I will forever label you a sociopath because you don’t care who else gets sick or dies while you spread covid far and wide. Kids who can’t get vaccinated. Older people who are immunocompromised. Breakthrough infections among the vaccinated because repeated exposures broke through the protections that vaccinations confer.

Zero sympathy. No empathy. Out of fucks to give. You get only my everlasting derision and scorn.

I’ll save my sympathy for those who get covid but couldn’t get vaccinated because of actual medical reasons. I’ll save my sympathy for those who die or get seriously sick because they couldn’t get the medical care they should have because unvaccinated dumbfuckers have overwhelmed hospital systems and there aren’t beds to deal with the run of the mill ailments that are survivable with routine care.

HWRF model for Sunday night:

However, the HWRF sometimes makes storms too strong. The GFS model doesn’t have Ida quite as strong, but is a bit more east (closer to NOLA) when Ida does land:

Probably not a Katrina situation, but the GoM is very warm and the warm water is very deep (so the winds stirring up the water column isn’t going to weaken Ida.)

I imagine that there will be a number of folks in this situation in the DC area as well.

It’s a hard life. At least here in the States. In March, a 66 year old Pakistani immigrant UberEats driver was murdered during a carjacking attempt by two teenage girls (13 and 15).

LEIPZIG, Germany, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Sayed Sadaat used to be communications minister in the Afghan government before moving to Germany last December in the hope of a better future. Now he is a delivery man in the eastern city of Leipzig.

He said some at home criticised him for taking such a job after having served in the government for two years, leaving office in 2018. But for him now, a job is a job.

One of Beau’s videos, he says the feed store guy just keeps it locked up in the back room and won’t sell to anybody he doesn’t know. Because this is a small town; not only does the feed store owner know every person in town, he knows the names of their horses.

It’s apparently been a busy day at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

1. Some Taliban leaders claimed that they have entered and gained control of the airport. Nobody on the US side has confirmed this. I have not seen any on the ground sources indicating that it is even remotely related to reality.

2. There have been warnings over the past few hours of intelligence regarding another attack.

3. Airport access is reportedly being restricted further by the Taliban.

I’m struck by the chair grip. A bi-cable system, with the lower rope moving the chairs and the stationary upper rope suspending the chairs, with a two-sheave carriage. They decidedly don’t make them like this anymore, chairlifts today are a single moving haul rope. Aerial trams still use the bi-cable system.

there was a malpractice lawsuit years ago i cant remember the reference.
audited financial statements used to have a footnote on every page

“The accompanying notes are an integral part of these financial statements”
or maybe

“See accompanying notes to the financial statements.”

it had been an industry standard for many years

some guy lost money on what, i dont know, and sued the cpa firm/preparers claiming:
yes it says ‘integral’, and ‘see’, but it doesnt say i had to read them.

i believe he won.
it may be an apocryphal story, but now you only see the explicit reference
“These notes form an integral part of and should be read in conjunction with the accompanying financial statements.”

From The Newsroom:

Don Keefer: “You know what it says on a box of chocolate pudding mix? “Caution, pudding will get hot when heated.” Go to a hotel, you know what it says on the shower cap in the bathroom? “Fits one head.” And I’m dying to know the suit that prompted lawyers to insist on the shower cap directions. Look at the box your iron came in. It says, “Warning, do not iron clothes while wearing them.” Do we really have to slow down for these people?’”

I just re-watched (for about the 4th time) that show, and it’s a damn shame it didn’t stay on the air through the Trump years. It was really a brilliant show and the points Sorkin made are even more cogent today.

The hue and cry from my neck of the woods is deafening:

South Carolina Congressman Tom Rice (R-Myrtle Beach) called on President Joe Biden to resign over his “haphazard withdrawal” from Afghanistan that he blamed for the terrorist attack in Kabul.

(Remember when Tommy did one right thing…yeah, that was an aberration.)

Graham Allen, a right-wing TV and radio personality from Anderson who is running to unseat Rice, joined the call for Biden’s removal. “I AM CALLING ON BIDEN TO RESIGN IMMEDIATELY AND DEMANDING MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO DEMAND THE SAME!!!”

Jeanette Spurlock, another candidate for the 7th Congressional seat, called for Biden’s impeachment regarding his handling of Afghanistan earlier this week. “We must immediately file articles of impeachment against Joe Biden and those that worked in unison with him on this horrific disaster of a pull out,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Aug. 24.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham said he supported the president’s impeachment.”This is the most dishonorable thing the commander-in-chief has done maybe in modern times,” Graham said. “Joe Biden, for political reasons, wanted to pull all of our troops out because of the polling numbers, and what has he done? He’s created the conditions for another 9/11, he’s abandoned thousands of people who honorably and bravely fought along with us.”

But I saved the best for last…

South Carolina Rep. Russell Fry (R-Surfside Beach) also issued a statement Thursday, but stopped short of calling on Biden to resign. Rather, he said, Biden should appoint Trump to oversee the rest of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. “For the sake of our countrymen in harm’s way, it’s time for Biden to live up to his own words of bipartisanship and turn to trusted hands who know how to get the job done,” Fry wrote in a statement he posted on Facebook and shared with The Sun News. “I call on Joe Biden to set aside political differences and, in a spirit of true bipartisan cooperation, appoint Donald J. Trump as his special envoy to oversee the Afghanistan withdrawal.”

The Singles Line. I often employ that method of boarding a chairlift. The idea is to fill up every chair (at Vail all the chairlifts are quads or six place), covid threw a wrench in all that. Vail Resorts wanted space between unrelated parties, so no chairs got filled up last winter. Led to long lines, and a Singles Line that took forever.

re: #141 BeachDem

The hue and cry from my neck of the woods is deafening:

Snipped a bunch of depressing items about conservatives/Republicans living in their own fucking reality

Sigh—living among them is hazardous to my health and sanity.

It looks like I’m headed to the Hilton Head-area this Thanksgiving. My partner wants to take the new pup to her parents’ place, and the 12 hour drive might too much for one person with a at-that-time five month old puppy. I usually put in a three day appearance and leave ASAP, but I might not be able to do it this time.

On the bright side, her mom is fully vaxxed, because as much as she loves Fox News, she gets that COVID combined with her respiratory disease would be certain death. From what I can glean from overheard phone calls, mother-in-law is shifting her personal Overton Window to “I’m sure Democrats must be as bad about handling COVID as the GOP”. Which isn’t much, but for this woman, that’s a massive shot of reality piercing the Fox bubble.

Mother-in-law also has a friend her age who needs physical therapy but is anti-vax. The therapy place told her to pound sand, so she’s spending a ton more to have someone come to her house.

The irony being, of course, is that the visiting therapist could somehow infect this woman and kill her. But, hey, sometimes owning the libz requires some self-sacrifice.

…Keefe Conroy, 44, of Buckhannon, was taken into custody, the complaint said. Troopers say there were “several marijuana plants” growing in the home’s garden. Conroy allegedly admitted the plants were his.

Additionally, the criminal complaint claims Conroy allegedly told troopers that “he grew the marijuana plants because he didn’t trust drug dealers,” and that he “didn’t like pain pills.”

While searching the garden, troopers say they found 16 marijuana plants growing, and once they were allowed to search the home, they found seven jars of wht is presumed to be marijuana.

If I could make you love me
If I could have your kids
A white picket fence, a life that made sense
That’d be the token

When I was just a girl
In a great big world
I was playing the part wild at heart
What happened to her

Another exit sign
Another late night drive
I feel like a spark, a city in the dark
Most all the time

We spend our lives holding out for something
But I say we’re broken and maybe knowing that’s the token

A glass of champagne
Money or fame
How it all starts to fade, in the bed that we’ve made
We’re all just the same

We spend our lives holding out for something
But I say we’re broken and maybe knowing that’s the token,
We spend our lives worrying about nothing
It’s okay to be broken, and maybe knowing that’s the token
It’s okay to be broken,
Maybe knowing that’s the token.

Last night you laid her down, now she’s just a used to be

As I recall this moment was when Peter Doocy kept up a line of stupid questioning about why there hadn’t been any US casualties for a year and now “look! OMG!” even after Biden explained that there was an agreement that the Taliban held to to not attack US forces for the past year and ISIS-K isn’t Taliban. It’s clear that he was trying to keep himself from exploding in anger at having to deal with that gimbus in the wake of such deeply complicated circumstances which are extremely fluid.

Personal job stuff here.

I’m leaving my job of two years, ending a twelve year career in urban planning to go pursue a personal dream I thought I’d have to wait until retirement to chase.

My little city has been a great employer, unlike the County I spent ten years with. I’m much more emotional about it than I expected to be. I knew I’d be excited and scared to follow this dream, but I didn’t expect to be so sad to leave the city. It’s hokey but true, they really have been like a second family.

Oh well, life goes on. Like many people, covid taught me to not wait on important stuff any more.

Sirhan is an artifact of history, a living fossil. There is no point in keeping him locked up. Unlike the serial-murdering Manson gang, he exhibits little or no likelihood of re-offending.
I’ve seen people argue that the far reaching effects of his act, the impact on history, warrants a more severe punishment. I disagree. He committed a murder. He deserved to be severely punished, and he was. Extending it beyond that, into the effect on history, is to absolve all the others who contributed to the disasters that followed the election of 1968. If those disasters are on Sirhan, even in part, then they aren’t Nixon’s, or Kissinger’s, or Johnson’s. I just can’t buy that. The times were right for calamity and, ultimately, many millions of people contributed to one degree or another.

One of my buddies is trying to get me to set up shop in the King of Prussia mall, but I’m dubious I can afford that at this point. But I’m still in my planning phase. The big thing for me is that the Tucson metro of 1,000,000 people supports 6-7 stores, and the Philly metro of six times that has about that many stores. There’s room for another if I place it well.

I like how the writer takes the dude to task IN THE ARTICLE.

“The Bible says we’re made in the image of God and Satan tries to cover that up. A mask is a sign of oppression,” Nelson said Thursday. “If it was Muslim, Jewish or something of a more high-profile minority religion in this country, yes, they would have accommodated … just to say they weren’t discriminating based on that religion. But they feel safe because it’s Christianity.”

Refusal to wear a mask is not a tenet of the Christian faith.

After the Nutella discussion the other night, I decided I would try the stuff (I haven’t had it since I was about 10 years old).
Today, I duly ordered the modest (13.2 ounce) size with my Walmart delivery. I was just notified that they were out of that size and would provide the gigantic 26.6 ounce size at the same price. (This is one of the perks of Walmart delivery. If you order something and they don’t have it, they will substitute either a larger size or a more expensive brand.)

If I don’t like it the burros probably will.

Okay. And WGP might be open to negotiations because of the bankruptcy filing. Also Penn State has a campus near Rt 309 and a branch in Abington.

Good. F them for the way they drove Hydrox off the shelves.

I hate Oreos.

Good one.. That’s a good one.

In this part of NJ, we have a blazing hatred for Mondelez. They shut down a historic factory claiming that they couldn’t modernize within the space and that they had better facilities elsewhere.

So, a few hundred folks are now out of work, and Mondelez is likely making those Oreos outside the US to reduce their costs further.

Just adding for context:

Some Kennedy family members, Los Angeles law enforcement officers and the public submitted letters opposing Sirhan’s release

and

Sirhan told the panel then that if released, he hoped he would be deported to Jordan or live with his brother in Pasadena, California.

This reminds me of the Elian Gonzalez tragedy which contributed to the 2000 election outcome in Florida; if it weren’t for that, Gore probably would have won Florida handily. Having to make this type of decision can lose the election for Gavin Newsom.
