I wonder if the police will investigate the story of how her lawyer says the child died. I am sure wrapping your dead child in plastic and duct tape and dumping her body in a swamp is still a crime, no matter how the child died.

Man, how could anyone buy this woman's story?

"My kid accidentally drowned in our pool....so my dad and I went and covered her mouth in duct tape and threw her out in the woods to make it look like a murder (because that's what people do when their kids drown in the pool, right?).....and then I spent the next month partying while the kid was "missing" because...um...because my dad abused me when I was a kid....or something?"

I'm so sick over this and I haven't really been following it that closely, but it makes me ill.

This is the question then, who killed this baby? At this point, can they even conduct an investigation.

People in Florida know the state doesn't give a shit about children. Look at how many have died or are neglected under the watchful eye of DCF.

It's just the craziest. The grandfather was a retired detective, whom, btw, adored that baby. Who would believe he would do such a thing? If God forbid she had drowned, he would have preformed CPR and dialed 911 like a normal person, not wrap her in plastic, duct tape her mouth and dump the body! Good grief!

The 31 days.... with the baby rotting in the car. Poor thing. I'm just sick.

Oh...

Of course she killed that baby. I guess the prosecution wasn't good enough or the defense was better. In either case, no justice for Caylee.

Its one of those funny things, I'm of course prone to agree, the case seems so open-and-shut.

But the Juries also see and hear a lot of stuff that we don't, its worth resisting second-guessing them too hard.

Well, there always is a third option....the jury was just stupid.

I'm a staunch defender of our legal system, but we all know that there are plenty of stupid juries out there. We all know how many people there are in this country that are almost impossibly dumb. And these people make up large portions of our juries.

Not saying that there is a "better" or "fairer" way of trying cases, because there isn't. But given the defense's ridiculous story here, there are only really two options: either the prosecution was one of the most incompetent in recent history, or the jury was just stupid. Maybe a little from both.

At least with the OJ jury, one could say that the man was so idolized, that they didn't want to convict him. I'm assuming with this jury (if they get around to speaking), they will say they had reasonable doubt, presumably that the father was involved.

The hub-bub on CNN and HLN said that the jury didn't have the facts that the rest of us had, being sequestered and all, and the round-the-clock media coverage that we all had access to, but I don't buy that. The jury is supposed to know more than we do. That's the prosecution's job and I think they were outstanding. They rebuffed everything the defense said.

What in the world is Casey going to do next? What if, God forbid, she gets pregnant again?

She apparently didn't like the kid getting in the way of her partying, so she might voluenteer for an IUD or something.

I'm sure plenty of people would kick in to help her out >>

Naw, she's already figured out what to do with a child she doesn't want. I shudder to think what this is going to do to her mental pathology at this point.
